Huh, I've had a loaded gun pointed at me once. Yeah, it puts a damper on the whole liking them/them liking you thing. Luckily my gf's dad doesn't own a gun and I know knife takeaways. I think it may have something to do with him waving a shotgun shell in my face and thinly threatening to use it that just has me so put off...
As for her mom, I have no idea what to think of her or what she thinks of me. I'm told that she thinks "I'm okay", which could mean pretty much anything at this point. It's kind of hard to read how someone thinks of you when you only ever see them with exactly one facial expression.
Yeeeaaaaah...see, I know how to defend myself too. The problem stems from the fact that the step-dad is ex-military, the mom is in the military, and the entire family consists of avid hunters. It's not a matter of worrying about defending myself, it's the fact that I am grossly outclassed, outgunned, and outnumbered if it comes to that, which I sincerely hope never, ever happens.MasterOfWorlds said:Huh, I've had a loaded gun pointed at me once. I got that from both of them towards the end of my longest lasting relationship. Not the overly controlling part, but the "leave him" part. Fucking assholes. It was for the best though in the end!Neonbob said:My ex's mom seemed to like me just fine. And her dad was alright with me at first. But after a year or two, he started to get overly controlling of her, and made it nearly impossible to take her out on dates when we were home over the summer. Plus, I'm pretty sure he was pushing her to leave me near the end.
So for all I care, he can burn in a syphilitic inferno.
I can relate. My exes parents both seemed to like me from the get-go, but it was always a little awkward to be around them, and her dad kinda scared me. As much as I got along with my exes family, I don't miss having to worry about looking good in front of them.Macgyvercas said:My first girlfriend's parents loved me. My secod girlfriend's dad thought I was cool, but I never really saw her mother that much (her mother was a nurse and worked wierd shifts).
Currently, I'm single, and therefore don't have the problem of "oh no, will her parents like me" (which incidentally is the ONLY good thing about being single).
I'm still on very good terms with both my exes and their respective parents (barring my second girlfriend's mother, who as I stated above, I didn't know very well).oreopizza47 said:I can relate.
