The battle would take place on a farm, beginning with a shootout around the farmhouse and barn and then moving to the cornfield. Essentially, it would be a deadly game of cat and mouse with machetes. The hero would have to stop me before I made my way around the farm and located his family members and killed them. The quality of the ending game cutscene would depend on how quickly he defeated me.

However, no matter how many family members he saves, it would be revealed that he killed my family as part of his career with the mob but had all his traumatic memories erased through hypnosis, and that I was not a psychopathic killer but a desperate man out for revenge.

I'd be about normal sized "human" who's super fast(Think flash!) with a katana of some sort and some firearm in my other hand. Something like Uzi. Though those weapons are saved for when I get serious. At first I fight with fists and legs jumping around like a maniac. And so things would be a bit more interesting I could shoot some blast wave with my sword.

Personality? I just keep my mouth shut and start killing. Mouth is the root of all problems. Bosses usually die because they talk too much.

I would have twenty layers of armor that have to be destroyed and would shoot out expanding spherical insta-kill fields with infinite range.

Jedi Knight Kal Ad Dural who blasts you back from him with a powerful force push and uses the force to control one of his dual lightsabers to fight from behind you.

Toughest move: Jumps up and smashes down knocking everything over with the force, then rushing in to stab you with his twin sabers
Difficulty: Medium-hard

I would totally roll out a Hi-poly fire attack at 50% health so as to cause the game to freeze... kinda like the last boss in God of War 1.

I think I'd break the fourth wall until the gameverse starts crumbling around the player, with large chunks of the ceiling falling randomly, with my weak point being my health bar.
You fourth wall breaking ninja...

Hmm... I'd be a fast-moving sword-wielding nightmare, with no visible health bar, as I became immortal in an internet-based accident 2 years ago! As long as I'm connected to the internet, I can't be defeated!

You'd beat me by disconnecting your console/PC/gaming platform of choice from the internet. Or moving the clock back 2 years, until before the accident. At that point I become I guy with a sword, and am fairly easy to shoot, so I run away. But if ever you reconnect your game to the internet, I come back in the next room! If there's another boss in that room, you're screwed.

If you impale me on something/set me on fire before disconnecting from the web, I die. Basically you need to remove my immortality whilst leaving me in a situation I can't survive.

I'd a be a 1 HP Bunny, which if you swing your sword/weapon/spell at, goes Monty Python at you, takes off your head, and deletes all your save games from the HDD. to defeat me, you have reply to one of the quotes that I make from any random fantasy movie that ever came out, if you hesitate more than 30 seconds (i.e. looking it up on wikipedia) I go monty python.. (as above)

The point of many bosses is to make the player feel invincible after their victory, like a hero in a Wire Fu movie or any movie where the protagonist is a swordsman.

To that end, I would choose a humble appearance (white trenchcoat and plain katana) coupled with the kind of ultra-speedy and deadly attack pattern that leaves a player flabbergasted the first few times they witness it. Any time I'm about to get hit, time slows down for both of us, which actually makes things easier on the player. Then, remove this handicap in the second half and crank up my own speed in the final quarter (read: Flash Stepping). And give me Alma from Ninja Gaiden's boss music.

I would be a skilled hand to hand fight just like the protagonist. It would be a one on one fight with no weapons. I would have really annoying stun moves and would be activating things like floor traps to instant kill the protagonist. To beat me the protagonist would have to have quick reflexes and use some very good tactics to beat.

I would be a trickster boss hidden at the end of a semi-illusory 3D maze - the actual maze would have real walls, and be challenging in-and of itself, but there would also be illusory walls to turn the maze into a grid - the illusory walls could only be distinguished from the real walls by a different pattern of 5 mm wide dots in the center-right corner.

Oh, and throughout the maze I'd be dealing continuous damage to the protagonist.

Hmm... Interesting question. I would be...
I dunno. My moves? Insta-death shots, chainsaw in the face, and hyper beam.
And I'm 100 feet tall.
And I have minions.
And 6 arms!
And Dragon wings!
And a mother freaking 50 million hit points!

And the hero is a kitten. With a stick.

AND I GET A FLYING MONKEY PET!

What?

You said challenging!
don't look at me like that!
This game must be made.

Anyways, you guys ever play No More Heroes 2? Remember the second form of the final boss, and how he could hurl you out the FUCKING windows? I'd be like that, only there would be no walls, just FUCKING windows.

I'd wear similar to medieval knight armor, but instead of that annoying helm, it'd be similar to a metal motorcycle helmet. (To look cool) I'd have a sword that doubles as a boomerang, and have strong telekinesis. To get past the first stage, after dodging behind a boulder I throw, he'd kick it back at me while I believed to have crushed the protagonist.
2nd stage, I would charge with my boomerang sword, and the antagonist would have to trick me into attacking stone pillars, which would get rid of my helmet. Now the third stage is for you to daze me, take my sword, and cut off my head.

Invincibility and a big flamethrower. Crude and unimaginative but it'll get the job done. Perhaps a nuke gun and psychic powers on top, plus wings and laser eyes. And the ability to bend time.

All you need, really.

I'd probably be really unfair and look completely normal. Maybe a badass jacket to wear. But by making myself normal size, there's less of me to hit.

First attack: Labyrinthine Wave
I send out waves of stone that all have a few safe spots that the hero has to maneuver himself into to avoid being crushed against the wall. To be nice each safe spot is in running distance of the other but I would be unhittable through the entire attack. Simply a timed move that will end after 30 seconds. I will also only use it once.

Second attack: Blaze Dance
Wielding two fire tipped spears on chains, I'll fight the hero directly. Since they're on chains they have a very wide attack radius and will thus be difficult to dodge. However avoiding one means being ready to avoid the other. It would require a lot of quick thinking to be able to outmaneuver me and strike my blind side as the spears can swing in any direction I choose. If he hits the end of the spear, the hero will take serious burn damage. I will cycle this attack with others.

Third attack: Frozen Web

This one will be tricky. After a short 4 second charge a web formation of beams will form. Then those beams all turn to ice. Anything inside of said beams will also frozen solid. During the web freeze, I will temporarily invulnerable and only vulnerable during the charge time. I will probably use it twice and then switch momentarily to another attack.

Fourth attack: A Light Rain

I equip a bow and fire into the air, raining arrows of light onto the battlefield. Getting hit by an arrow will cause severe damage and blind the hero. This one is tricky as I am constantly moving around between each volley. By far my weakest attack but possibly one of the most devastating. Also cycled.

But what's really unfair is

Desperation Attack: Hax Sign: Burn Everything

If by some horrible misfortune I am defeated I make my final move. Parts of the battlefield burst into flame, each burst following the hero and obstructing him as he makes his way to the exit. If he does manage to escape the burning room, good for him. However if he takes too long, the exit is sealed by a pillar of flame and he is left to die.

I'm a secret boss, stronger than the final boss but it requires specific actions to be taken in-game. I am myself, The Game Creator. I instantly break the fourth wall by explaining to the characters that I am their creator and they are my puppets.

Phase 1: My attacks consist of rapid punches and kicks.I jump around the level, so that there is only a small window of time for the characters to attack. My health bar is slightly shorter than that of the final boss.

Phase 2: I start to input cheat codes: god mode, extended health, increased power. My form changes to that of a digital demon. I launch blasts of data that follow the characters around, each doing a remarkable amount of damage. I am now much slower, but my constant volley of attacks keep the player from simply slashing out. My health bar is now longer than that of the final boss.

Phase 3: My apparent death. I explain to the characters that they do no longer belong to me, but to the player. I fade away...
But then the background warps to a silly picture of my face, with my hand being the only thing the characters can hit. I constantly warp the battlefield and change the appearance of the characters, putting them in silly outfits. My health bar is about 1.5 times longer now. When I'm at half of my health, I swipe away the health bar, hiding it in the menu, and giving subtle hints to its location. My death is very explosive.
That was an epic idea.
+1 internetz for you sir.
