Hello fellow escapee's! second thread here, hope you like it
(any grammar problems, just tell me)

I was sitting here watching military history channel and as usual i would daze of thinking about if i was in that war and whether i would survive and it and so on. (does anybody else do that?)

But the real question i propose to you is, If your country was in crisis would you sign up for the army?

I mean as in threat of invasion. Like the nazi's were thinking of invading england. I would definetly sign up! as i would feel a sense of pride in trying to protect my family and friends by fending of the savage beasts!

Depends if I thought the threat was great enough, and I think I'd only be able to serve in the TA because of my Weight.

I wouldn't. My country is so bad that it can go burn to the floor as far as I care. I'd just flee.

No not the army, everyone knows in the case of occupations guerilla actions see them off. Vietnam, afghanistan ect. Tried and tested method of resistance. I would resist at every turn, i feel very strongly about oppression and it sure isnt happening in my country. I think its better to die on your feet than live on your knees. Englands free and its staying free.

If i were infact conscripted, i would just desert.

That said, it would be cool hiding in buildings sniping out nazis (Though probably not as cool as it looks in my head)

Despite the promise of glory and heroism etc. If Australia was under actual attack/invasion (bahahaha) no. I would not, I say this purely because in the situation described new recruits would most likely be rushed through training and gotten straight onto the front line. While I am actually currently considering enlisting (though not as frontline infantry), at first though I probably would not join in such a time of crisis.

TA or regular you will still be serving! and you should feel proud. Even with your weight you don't have to be a soldier you could serve as radio ops relaying enemy positions and situations to either generals in their bunkers or soldiers on the fronline with new orders.

agreed. moon colony didn't seem so bad in total recall.

Although that was Mars.

Sniping nazi's in the head is the coolest thing a man could ever do

Yes that may be the case, but would you not fight to see through that your family will be safe from opression?

If my country was in a crisis, I wouldn't have much of a choice; People ages 18 and up are automatically conscripted in case of a serious war.
