yeah i don't believe in Invading countrys and forcing our way of life onto them. yeah it would be completely defence war! just like WW2 britain was trying to protect herself and france from opression by nazi's.I say old chap said:It is the old question of whether it is good and glorious to die for one's country. Something the Athenians believed in (it is good to die for the city-state), but which is lacking in our consumer society far more concerned with fashions and fads then sacrifice and bravery.
My answer is yes, but only in a war of defence. It is not moral to invade other societies via offensive wars and leave infrastructure and non-combatants destroyed and dead respectively.
Good responses though people. A range of opinions here.
yeah that's true but power comes in quantity though. basically what i'm trying to say is if we have a ratio of 5:1 in our favour it would bring their morale down going against such a huge force. Also 5 guns shooting at one person more chance of a kill and decreasing their numbers (providing they were trained properly)Giantcain said:in the old days they literaly forced you into the army near enough and if didn't want to be there they shot ya but really id go and hide as I learned when I was learning about the somme more people fighting for you does not mean you will win i man were not even sure how the somme actually or how we didnt lose the infantry said they say angels and the germans fled when they could have won that battle there and then so in short id go hide somewhere really dark
I thought spain was with Napoleon because he wanted to destroy England?I say old chap said:Glad you are liking it. I think there is good merit in citizens adapting to guerrilla warfare to defeat invaders. Worked for the Spanish against Napoleonic France too.
Should have a look round the north coast, it'd be very nice with the weather we're having. Could try the Ulster museum near the Lanyon building of Queens University in Belfast as they had an exhibition on things such as the troubles and Irish history in general which is probably still there. Or there's the Folk and Transport museum at Cultra and the Ulster American folk park near Omagh.YouCallMeNighthawk said:Slightly off tpic here, but i could use your help. I'm going ireland on a holiday and was just wondering where would be good to go? I'm quite interested in it's history and stuff like that.
