Guess I have to correct myself, it's 16 for shops but I stopped paying attention to the legal age when I reached 18...
It was still 15 when I was that age though, been sort of drunk ever since.

what kind of beers does Belgium have?
i know of almost all Dutch beers (i'm dutch).
I guess the same beers as the Netherlands. I'd say Google it.

There is one bar in Brussels which serves a ridiculous amount of beers. I think it's near 1500 different beers that they have.
wuwuwuwuwuu WUT!?
1500!

I'm an Australian, and the legal age for getting your drink on is 18

And I like that, the drinking age at 21 like in the US has always bewildered me: indeed I heard a member of my family remark thus:

"How can a country say that 18 is old enough for a man to go and fight and maybe die for his country but still be to young to have a beer with his mates before he leaves?"
trust me, it bewilders us as well...

but back to topic. 21 here, good ole USA!

Ontario Canada and here I believe it's nineteen.

I'm not really interested in Alcohol though, I've never been able to get drunk, and I've tried.

You've got to be 16 to buy alcohol here in Malta :D. But I think the Government plan on changing it to 18 or 19 by the end of next year.
That sucks, my next door neighbour is part-Maltese (He lives with his Maltese Granfather), and his 17 year old brother was looking forward to getting hammered when we go next year :p

Luckily I'll still be ok even if they change it! :D

OT: It's 18. Don't think it'll change, especially not with the war on. Would seem kind of weird you can be sent overseas but can't get hammered if you make it back. At least that's my mates theory on it lol, he's 18, in the army and due to be deployed.

If He's part Maltese, then I'm guessing that you're British or Australian? That's were most other Maltese people are.

I'ma be of age in twooooo weeeeeks.

Oh, I am going to be so blitzed. FOREVER. Head in space, eyes pointing backwards, kissing the moon. Gonna be awful, and glorious.

Unrelated, what's with "I don't need to get drunk to be happy?" Shit, son, I don't need pizza to be happy either, I just like it.

Belgium, and 16. Plenty of beers to choose from as well.
It's 18 for strong alcohol.

But neither really matters as you will rarely ever get checked for ID.

Its 18 here in australia which is lower than america's, but from, what i know is that the driving age is lower there, at 16 you can drive in america but here in australia its 18.

What i dont get is that driving is far more risking than drinking yet there is a large gap between the legal drinking and driving age in america, so what the amrican goverment is saying is that they will let a 16 year old behind the wheel of a "weapon" that can them and others, but they cant drink untill there 21. Does this make any sence to any one?

In Bulgaria it's 18 for everything. Drinking, smoking, sex, driving, voting, army...
In reality it all starts much earlier, at least the first three. Very rarely will shop assistants ask for IDs, though they must according to the law. You can buy drinks and smokes as soon as your tall enough to put the money on the counter. I myself started drinking at about 15, but by 18 I hade pretty much stopped. But now I'm talking 7-graders drinking half a bottle of vodka during lunch break. Smoking - 4th grade if not earlier. Sex - about the age of 14. Except in the gypsy minority - there was a story on the news not two months ag about a 11-year-old gypsy who got married and gave birth in the same day.
With driving the control is much better and very few dare to drive before they're 18 and have a license. If only there was more control on the other vices.

I guess it does in a way. You can be trained to use a car correctly through lessons, and you have to pass a test proving you can handle it, whereas that can;t be done with alcohol, so I guess they wait for natural maturity to take hold of it and keep the alcohol in check.

Obviously it doesn't work :p but that's the idea I think....

EDIT: My bad on the double post there guys...

Age is irrelevant, the same people will binge whether they're 18 or 21.

On another note, the UK's drinking age is 18.

AND I'M 18 TODAY YAYYY DRINKING TIME.

Even more specific, you need to be 16 for beers that are <5%, and 18 for above and strong alcohol. But as you said, you rarely get carded. Not that it matters to me.

21 - You can enlist in the armed forces and kill someone at 17 (with parents permission), but a cold one after doing so, no no no! You're no adult sir/ma'am!

It's 21 here in the U.S. I feel as if for some reason the universe fucked up and I was accidentally born here instead of Australia for so many reasons.
