So escapists out of curiosity . What is your current job and what's is your dream job . By dream job i don't mean something fictional or unrealistic ( like super hero or mad scientist ) but the job you have set your goal to obtain . The purpose of the thread is to serve as a motivator, showing your current situation and the one you want ( and most likely ) achieve with hard work . We must all start somewere ( most often then bottom ) and work our way up to our goal.

If you have obtained your dream job ( for the older escapists or the lucky bastardsescapists ) please post your first job you had.

I am currently working at a grocery store been working theme since i started college. My goal is to become a university or college math teacher . It may not be the best paying job , but i like math and i would hope to be able to share my love of it to others . The reason i specified college or university , is because the students there are more serious than highschoolers who most often don't give two shits, at least in college or higher they are motivated to atleast pass the course.

Your turn.

My current job. Well, I'm a masters student really, it's not so much work as I get given money to sit at a desk 9 til 5 and do what the boss tells me.

I want to be a professor though. A proper British professor with my own grant money and underlings and a title. Like Professor J.A. Hooper, Newton Chair for Theoretical Physics. And I could lecture younglings about quantum mechanics. And win Nobel prizes. Yeah, I want that job.

Current job: carryout at a local grocery store, and highschool student

Dream job: 2 actually, but one more likely. In a perfect world, I want to be the next John Browning (weapons designer). However, that would take a lot of money and be dangerous for my health and family if someone decided "If I kill the guy making weapons, the world will be at peace." So instead, I will work at the local military museum.

dream job: professional wrestler, which is impossible since I have Cerebal Paulsey and can't walk but it is nonetheless what I've always wanted to do, I've had other dream jobs but this is the main one, I'd at least like to work in the industry like as a creative director or even commentator or something

other dream jobs

voice actor, a bit more feasable

writer/author, it's a hobby of mine to write stuff so why not make a career of it?

Current Job - The Royal Navy - 3 Cdo Brigade. ( Already a dream job )

Dream job #2? Hell, I'd love to be a teacher. Specifically secondary school Art. (11-16) I honestly believe that teaching kids art, could be one of the most rewarding experiences ever. Seeing as it's a very perceptive subject - hell, you could actually have a huge impact on a kids life from how you teach. That would be awesome!

My current job is part timing at an airport (I study full time). The biggest airport in the country no less. I do varying jobs, sometimes I'm at the security checkpoint, other times I work at the tax free stores. My dream job though, would be working with GIS (Geographic Information Systems). I don't really mind where and for who I work, as long as I get to use GIS. GeoDATA might be a fun workplace but I don't enough about exactly what they do to say.

My current job is Engineering Geologist and my dream job is Sperm donation. I currently do long hours 07:00-18:30. Sometimes I pretend I'm doing an Elder scrolls quest if it's pissing it down and there are noisey huge dangerous trucks offering free ear removal and the geophysicist just got his legs crushed by a large motorised Auger.

I've taken borehole logs of the 2012 Olympic sites (turns out about a lot of the British - I'm British btw - construction companies are involved in it) and I've done the same for a couple of new nuclear power station sites in the south. On which my older sister is incidentally designing the safety systems. So I have a bit of job satisfaction.

However, Sperm donation would be like the few free hours I get at home, but longer, with better pay. Probably.
Failing this I have a plan to harvest cat milk and start a new kind of cheese. Or Ale. Cat milk Ale.

I used to sell White Goods (Kitchen Appliances for those who don't know... Fridges, Freezers, Ovens, Washing Machines and the like...)

I now do the job I always wanted, I am an RAF Officer! Its all I wanted to do as a kid was join the military, and then as I got older I wanted to aim to be an officer, and I chose a specialisation that suited my strengths. At 19 I was accepted to RAF Cranwell for Officer Training, but not as the specialisation I wanted. When I was 22 I switched, and now I am doing what I aimed for. Admin Training! (I administer all training in a unit or on a base. I also teach, but with my limited experience I usually focus more on putting lessons together, and setting key learning points to ensure all the stuff that is important gets taught, like setting a curriculum!)

Currently I'm working 3rd shift grocery stock for a large retailer.

My life-long dream is to open and operate an arcade.

I know it sounds stupid, but I have fond memories of arcades, and they're pretty much extinct now. I think that the right games and the right location could provide for a very successful business. Oh and cheap games. None of this 75 cents per play shit.

Current Job: Labourer. I mainly do tasks related to cleaning (use a grinder to clean bolts/nuts/pins, lubricate said hardware if necessary, sweep the floor, pick up garbage, put tools away, etc,) and sometimes I work as a gopher for the people who know what they're doing ("Pass me that hammer!" "Hold this!") It's a steady, secure, decent paying job, but by no means what I want to be doing for the rest of my life. But for now, it'll do.

Dream Job: Radio announcer. In college, I got to host radio shows. I got to play music, tell listeners about stuff going on in/near town, and talk about stuff that I personally thought was interesting, not just to myself but to a general audience. Stuff like flying cars and jetpacks being invented, interesting statistics, and things that tend to affect a wide range of people regardless of their interest (ie: weather, gas prices, etc.) Voice acting for commercials was a nice bonus, especially when I was driving with friends in my car and I heard my own voice in a Halloween commercial.

But there's a really low ratio of radio announcer jobs to people who want said jobs. Sometimes I think I might have more of a chance of getting my other (more fun but also far more dangerous) dream job of being a professional fighter.

I like the idea of arcades. I know they're pretty much extinct because of home gaming, but then again, if people are willing to pay extra money to go out to watch movies (as opposed to watching movies at home), then why can't going out to play games be just as successful?
