So what's your dark souls character like? I made a pyromancer who wields a spear and shield. I like that since I can stab with my guard still up. I put a bunch of points into endurance so I can keep my guard up longer and run longer.

II usually save my magic for the bosses. He learned sorcery as well as pyromancy so when a boss shows up I can nuke it pretty quick. I imagine this game would be a lot harder as a guy weighed down in the heavy armour and trying to melee. Heavy soul arrow ftw!

So what's yours?

I made a paladin-like knight character. I wear weighty armor (but light enough so I can do a semi roll) and use a shield/claymore. For spells I use the miracles heal, wrath of the gods, and lightning spear.

I just got the Crystal Ring Shield and its my holy avenger's shield. Its L2 (for PS3) move is a ring of light that shoots from the shield and does 2 times main hand weapon damage. Hits for 700 damage with my claymore out :p

I made a tank-type knight character. I pumped a ridiculous amount of souls into Strength and Endurance just for the sole purpose of being able to effectively wear Havel's armour and shield. Yes, i know it's not the "best" armour out there, but damnit if it doesn't make me look badass. The irony of it being that while i have crazy high endurance that can absorb any hit onto the shield and can hit like a truck, my vitality, endurance and faith are low so if any hits do land that my shield or armour isn't able to take i can go from hero to zero pretty fast. It also means i'm somewhat vulnerable to magic attacks. I wield a lightning spear and the dragon tooth. You'd be surprised how effective it is to switch between those weapons frequently during PvP. Thief types who think they can roll behind for a quick backstab often get poked with the spear, and hard hitting types with a claymore or faith types who try to cast spells get smacked in the face with the tooth. Even just switching out weapons to bait the opponent without any intention of using them can rattle the opponent. I like to keep my enemies guessing.

I'm a furysword wielding pyromaniac who likes the lightest armor since, "If you can take no hits at all with light armor, why wear lots of armor at all?" I use a shield and frequently circle around to get the sweet backstab kill as often as possible.

Level 24 melee focused Knight who has also learned Pyromancy (basically for Iron Flesh, but the rest of the spells are useful too) and wears anything from light armor to heavy armor, or even a combination of both, depending on the situation. Working on getting a better weapon than the Drake Sword and obtaining useful items in optional areas before I go into the dreaded Blighttown everyone keeps talking about.

High stamina, light armor (Gold-Hemmed Black), heavy shield and powerful spear. I tend to mix in a little sorcery and archery (poison arrows FTW). I put a lot of points into Endurance, Vitality and Strength. I think I'm going to focus on developing my magic skills (get Intelligence up to 30 or something), as that was extremely useful in Demon's Souls. Level 79 now (and I really felt it when I went to absolve my sins. 158000 souls?!).

Dragonslayer Spear wielding Pyromancer/Faith hybrid.

Ornstein's chest and hand armour, Gold-Hemmed Black hood and skirt.

The interesting thing about the Dragonslayer Spear, is that it gets damage scaling from both Dex and Faith, so when the new patch comes in that fixes damage scaling, that spear is going to be awesome.

pyromancer knight, light things on fire then stab them with my great sword (now the grave servant sword) currently level 80 i think, with all buy-able pyromanceies, were the elite armour with the havel ring so i can still dodge about and got the upgraded grass cress shield. never lost an invade and can generally take down most bosses and minibosses by just wading into them (iron flesh is amazing if not really annoying for the speed penalty) and just gone into the sens fortress, and i havent dies in ages

Lvl100 bandit , didn't know what a bandit did so i'm basically a tank. I pumped all my points into vitality , strength and endurance . I have 40 str , 40 vit and 40 endurance , which means that i get crazy bonuses when a weapon or sheild has a str parameter bonus. My vitality is so high that it takes 3 of my flasks+5 to get from 0 to full health. My endurance is so high that when i can block any attack several times without being phased. I wear full stone set , it has great defense and elemental defense and the sword is amazing though costly to upgrade ( 10 twinkling titanites) the armor is unupgradable as far as i know . The stonr great sword has the ability to slowdown any opponent which i use when in trouble. I also use the pyromancy power within , which increases my damage, but drains my life , i usually save that for bosses. The only time i die is on bosses or when i act the fool.

A sorcerer at about level 77 with a 5+ Demon Spear.

I have an Intelligence of 61, the Bellowing Dragoncrest Ring and 8 Soul Spears inbetween bonfires (along with plenty other projectiles) so I have a good deal of firepower. I killed the Stray Demon with just 4 Soul Spears.

Unfortunately I can't take too much damage. I got lucky with Ceaseless Discharge. I had him dead in about 5 or 6 shots, but only because he didn't use his fire attack.

However I'm now at the bonfire right before the Demon Ruin's main Boss and that place is a leveling haven. I need to put some EXP in Vitallity, Endurance and Strength. I was pretty disturbed at first to find out it was crawling with Capra demons, but when you get to the bonfire you can easily sneak up to them and take 'm out with one hit (if you have Soul Spears). I'm eating those guys for breakfast now.

And by the way, is there anyway to kill those phantom warriors in Darkroot Garden? I already killed the Boss there, but I have a feeling there's more stuff out in those woods. Yet those phantom warriors keep hounding me. They basically have the same A.I. as the Black Phantoms that are tied to the game, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to fight them.

You're referring to the phantoms in that area guarded by the door which requires the crest of artorias, right? Assuming that there's a really easy soul-farming/combat strategy. First, destroy the wall next to the door to find the bonfire. After staying at the bonfire run up very close to the sorcerer (use the trees for cover). As you get close he pulls out a sword, at which point you sprint back to the entrance. There's a small ledge between the stairs and beside that is a lethal fall. Run to the very edge of the ledge, turn around and raise your shield. The sorcerer will run up the stairs and try jumping down, but will then end up bouncing off of you and falling off the ledge. There are a few other guys who can be baited this same way, they all will simply run up the stairs, try to jump off but just hit you on the head before falling over the cliff. And they give 2000 souls apiece, so you can get a lot of souls fast here!

On topic, my character is a sorcerer-pyromancer-rogue thing.

My current character is a level 50ish. I use a +4 Black Knight sword and the lightning spear. I have a Divine Halberd+5 ready to switch out with the BK sword when I need to stay back. I also have a longbow and heavy crossbow in my back pocket for when I need to shoot things.

My current character is a lvl 30 small fry. The plan is to build him into a user of the true astorian sword, but that's going to take a while.

I have two, one is a rogue like character, made to mirror my Dragon Age 2 Hawke, unlike my real Hawke, however, my Dark Souls man has a shield and a rapier, for protective reasons. My other character is the great, almighty "Heskey", named after the Lord himself, Emile William Ivanhoe Heskey, this guy is a knight, and a straight up BEAST, especially at football, unfortunately there are no footballs in Dark Souls

Off Topic: I am actually enjoying Dark Souls WAAAAY more than I thought I would, and it is very likely to end up on my personal Games of the Year list, alongside Dragon Age 2 and, hopefully, Skyrim

I play as a warrior named Whynn.

He wields the Drake Sword and the Knight´s Shield though he is leaning toward a Halberd to replace the non-scaling Drake Sword.
He is also sporting Havel´s Ring and a newly acquired Wolf Ring.

He wears the Fang Boar Helm witch makes him look like a Predator that´s overcompensating for something...

I look forward to seeing how he fears in The Depths...

Wish him luck...
