my great grandfather on my mother's side used to be a general for Chang Kai Shek, while my grandfather on my dad side used to fight under his command.

Beyond that, those are probably about as famous as they get.

Anyone remember the Haymarket Square riot? Yeahhhhh....my ancestors MIGHT have had something to do with that....whoops. On the other hand, I have da Vinci and Bach up in the branches of the ol' family tree. Somewhere. WAAAY up there.

I don't know of any famous ancestors. Somewhere on my mother's side of the family is the bastard son of a British royal family member from the time of Queen Victoria, but I don't know any details beyond that.

I have a knight as an ancestor. He was the personal physician to the king of England. I believe he may have tried to kill him, though I'm not entirely sure. Either way, I salute you, Sir Richard Hinton.

I'm related to John Wilkes Booth through my Mom's side. But hey, look on the bright side: He was said to be a pretty good actor...

EDIT: Oh, and somebody who was supposed to be a famous rope-twirler that traveled with Buffalo Bill and performed in his rodeo. He was on my Dad's side.

If you trace me back far enough, I'm related to some rich French guy who was best buddies with King Louie. Then, the French Revolution happened. Louie got himself guillotined and the family fled to avoid the same fate.

Not too famous, I know.

I am related to the Lord of the Dance, Michael Flatley.
Funny thing is, I've been dancing most of my life and fairly gifted in tap without knowing this for a while.

I can prove that I'm related to one of the witches in the Salem Witch Trials, and I've got another ancestor in the Tower of London.

Based off of my family, I'm inclined to believe that what my grandfather always told me is true- that I am related to every horse thief on this side of the Mississippi.

My grandfather always tells me about how his ancestors were Irish horse thieves and we got kicked of Ireland because of it.

Not famous but kind of silly.

Probably my most notable ancestors are Y-chromosomal Adam and X-chromosomal Eve, that I know of anyway.
