Not necessarily the album it's just my favorite. The band though.. I have yet to find one person who knows who they are.

If you're a fan of jazz, metal, or both (or neither) you -need- to get this album. It is brilliant in every aspect. It's a moving aural soundscape of weaving harmonies and beauty. Also, I kinda like it.

Better known on youtube for her VGM remixes as Katethegreat18. Her style is mostly Celtic/World music. She has a true gift for lyrics and she also has a beautiful voice and a innate talent for playing various instruments. The true marvel here is that she not only wrote, performed, and sang all these beautiful songs, but she also recorded, and mixed ALL of it, at home, BY HERSELF!

"More! More! More!" by capsule. is one of the greatest collections of electronic music I have ever heard, but unfortunately nobody in America has ever heard of them or the album.

That and "Pamyu Pamyu Revolution"
.......
DON'T JUDGE ME!

Practically nearly every Shoegazing album ever created, including the afromentioned Souvlaki album. I can say that, because I practically adore everything there is in that genre.

Though I would like to give a nod to Kitchens of Distinction - Strange Free World (1991), which is obscure even by shoegaze standards.

I would also like to give this Post-Punk gem a nod too...

Defiently one of the best examples of the earlier post-punk sound. I personally think it's up there with Joy Division's Unknown Pleasures, which coincidently came out the same year (1979).

I think it's pretty good, I just think it's sad that there aren't more songs by this band.

If I had to go for an album it would have to be Aurora, by Origa. Difficult to place it in a genre so I will just say Vocal, but she dips into quite a number of genres depending on the album.

However, my favourite obscure song was released as a single only;

Land of Love, also by Origa

Quite possibly the most angelic voice I have ever heard; I have listened to her music at least once a day, every day for the past four years and it has never gotten old.

I guess she may be known to fans of Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex as she sang the opening tunes to each series, aside from that I do not think she is known at all in the West.

This album is amazing. You all need to go out and buy it
I have Fear of a Blank Planet, love it, planning to get more into them soon.

For me, Urchin by Urchin. Trip Hop from the late 90s, it's fucking sublime, not a single duff track.

Tom Waits' Rain Dogs
I'd say its my favorite album.
That no one has ever heard of!!

People are required by law to enjoy Tom Waits. That being said, Red of Tooth and Claw as sung by the inexorable Murder By Death (Not a metal band.)

Damn, I was going to put that one as my album. I imported a copy from Japan. It's a great album if you like some of the weirder metal bands.

OT: Psychostick's space vampires vs. zombie aliens. Because it's the only parody metal band I can find.

I'd have to go with Dredg's El Cielo. It's one of the only albums I listen to solely from start to finish.

OT: Not sure how well known these guys are but not known enough in my opinion, particularly their album "Carnivalia"

I ahve always liked Un-Led-Ed by Dread Zeppelin.

Mix of Reggae, Lead Zepplin and (fat Vegas) Elvis.

I'm not going to say that nobody's heard of it, but none of my friends or anyone I know has...

It's probably Stoneage Romeos by the Hoodoo Gurus

Maybe the odd australian will have, but almost literally no one knows them
Hoodoos where very big in Australia, I saw them live on a number of occassions, including their last concert.
