Your Favorite Band?

Specifically, what's your favorite non-mainstream band?
Mine's CLUTCH, an American Metal group. From "Transnational Speedway" to "Strange Cousins from the West", they have yet to disappoint me. I also like Five Horse Johnson, Halfway to Gone, and Dixie Witch. There's actually a purpose to this thread: I want to know what you guys are listening to, whether I've heard of it or not. For me, "non-mainstream" bands (could have worded it better, I admit) seem to be a bit more of my style.

(By non-mainstream, I mean "not commonly talked about". Nothing against popular bands. I listen to Metallica and stuff that's well known too. Just want to hear your opinions on some lesser known groups. Also, the term "non-mainstream" is not being used in a pretentious way, at least not intentionally, just so you know.)

They're successful, but is that all if takes to be "mainstream"?

I don't know exactly what mainstream means. I think it's used in music threads as an excuse for people to feel cool and post their obscure metal bands.

Well I don't really have a favorite band. They seem to change from time to time. But the bands that I have been enjoying the most lately would be Bad Acid Trip, GallHammer and Negur&#259; Bunget.

I wouldn't say that Clutch are metal. They're more hard/stoner rock than anything. Kinda in vein of Kyuss.

OT:I geuss Pink Floyd is pretty mainstream rihgt? Well, not anymore, but they were. But "Hurt" (thats the bands name) if we're talking semi-obscure to "huh, what?"

For me it's probably Anthrax or Thin Lizzy. Again I'm not sure what's really classed as 'mainstream', but what the hell. If someone didn't like Thin Lizzy just because they were mainstream I'd probably punch them in the nose (not really, of course).

Although I seriously dislike the way this thread seems to be more of a way of saying "name your favourite band that no one else has heard of so you can feel superior. Lamb Of God are mainstream but FUCK are they good. Why do people always suggest mainstream is the same as bad?
