My favorites include:
The Harry Potter series by JK Rowling,
The Redwall series by Brian Jacques,
Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien,
Faerie Wars by Herbie Brennan,
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer,
Percy Jackson and the Olympians by Rick Riordan,
and So Yo want to be a Wizard by Diane Duane
Have you checked out the Pendragon series? A friend of mine has a very similar taste in books, and she's ape about those books.

Hm, I don't like picking naming favorites; it's between William Gibson's Neuromancer, H.P. Lovecraft's collected stories, and George Orwell's 1984.

Watchmen, V for Vendetta, The Hobbit, 2001: A Space Odyssy, Reaper Man, Soul Music (particularly funny since I started playing music), Hogfather, Eric, Equal Rites, Wyrd Sisters, The Hich-hiker's Guide Trilogy.

I adore Terry Pratchett and I've got loads of his stuff, thing is I spend so much time on music and Sci-Fi and stuff that I don't get them read in half the time it takes for my Brother to keep getting me more of them.

I've got The 5th Elephant, The Last Continent and Unseen Academicals and I haven't started any of them

Any Matthew Reilly book.

If I have to pick a single book I say Seven Ancient Wonders or Scarecrow.

If you havnt heard of Matthew Reilly then go read one of his books now! They are action books with more action than anything else in the world! Read either Seven Ancient Wonders, Ice Station or Temple 1st (Scarecrow is the 3rd in a series started with Ice Station)

God that book's awesome, only discovered it last summer because my cousin was studying it in english, lucky *****. But Hitchhikers guide will always rule supreme for me.

Other than those the books I've read the most have been my Calvin and Hobbes books. The great art of a comic is to distil a story into it's purest form with the minimum text and frames to put together a coherant story, then the tricky bit is to make it a good story and to look good. Bill Watterson was the best at this in the world.

PLEASE, PLEASE COME BACK BILL WATTERSON. I was only four when you retired and there is still so much you can teach me and the rest of the world.

I like a lot of books but right now my top three are "The Black Jewel's Trilogy" (I know what ur thinking but it's all three in one book so it counts) By Ann Bishop and Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones and Dragon's Blood by Jane Yolen. All very wonderful books.

Any Hitchhiker's book, preferably Resteraunt at the End of the Universe.

Ender's Game, perhaps?

i'm surprised only about 3 people said the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, i mean, it's a classic. also, another book i read a few years ago was called "Waywalkers" and i thought it was a decent book.

Ted Dekker's Circle Trilogy. Fantastic fantasy trilogy by my favorite author. Other books by him that I love are Thr3e, Blink of an Eye (also known as simply Blink), and pretty much everything else he's ever written.
