Gah! So many choices!

Well, first choice has to be Tali. I love her character, she has flaws, but not so much as to grate, and she works to get past them. Other than that, I love her personality. So much snark. And her looks don't hurt. The accent, either. Oh my god, the accent. (Yes I am an unrepentant Tali fanboy shut up.)

Samus, the Major from Ghost in the Shell, and Karrin Murphy from the Dresden Files occupy the same wavelength for me; I love them simply because they're so badass.

Winry Rockbell is a wonderful character too. She's very strong, but the manga (and I guess anime too, I haven't watched either one) do a good job of showing how someone living a relatively normal life would react to being thrown into the unwordly, war-torn insanity that happens.

5. Not sure if he counts, but he was the first thing to come to mind of characters in books.
Reaperman is one of my favourite Terry Pratchett books, and I always enjoy it when Death turns up in any of his books, even if just for a bit. He's the most likable Death I know of.
...I'm going to pull the 'genderless personification of an abstract concept' card just so I can have this here. Discworld Death rules.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and an honorary shout out to all the Team Avatar girls. Katara, Toph, Suki, Korra, Asami, you are all wonderful characters and lovely ladies.

-Tali'Zorah nar Raya vas Neema Vas Normandy, from Mass Effect. I like her voice, and she has a funny personality. And she isn't perfect,or trying to be. I'm pretty sure she's going to be on nearly every male's list here.

-Merrill,from Dragon Age II. I've never even PLAYED the game, but from what I've read and been told, she's a laugh riot, cute as a button, and has a deep character.

-Shale from Dragon Age I. I LOVE her snark. ESPECIALLY when Zevran's nearby. Yes,Shale is a woman, take her to the golem registry.

-Agent Texas,AKA Alpha/Epsilon Allison from Red vs Blue. Snarky,badass,hilarious. She's a hoot to watch in a fight,and she's funny in out-of-combat situations.

-Sarah Kerrigan from Starcraft. Pre and post infestation. She's snarky, confident (especially after infestation),and gets the job done. She was dead serious, and completely right when she said that she was the Queen ***** of the Universe.

-The Genetic Lifeform and Disc Operating System,AKA GLaDOS from Portal. Snarky (okay, that seems to be the biggest thing here...),confident,and just awesome all-in-all.

-Elite Commander Ivanna Dostya from Supreme Commander. Not snarky, but she's ruthless, intelligent, and badass, which is a requirement to be Doctor Brackman's military atachee...

I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

I wanted to put more of my favorites up... but most have already been mentioned.

When I was first introduced to her, I found her incredibly irritating. She seemed to have an answer for everything and was just too darn manipulative. I don't like it when total jerk faces are superior to everyone around them... with no karmic backlash

However, something about her decent into madness near the end of the show caused me some immense interest into her character. She ended up being my favorite character from the show.

<spoiler=Faith>http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb57524/mirrorsedge/images/a/a2/Faith_chase.jpg

Immensely loyal, determined, and most importantly, doesn't let her femininity define her. I'm up for girls being feminine, but it's nice when they aren't.

<spoiler=Katran/Catherine from Myst>http://www.mobygames.com/images/shots/l/507036-myst-iii-exile-macintosh-screenshot-tomahna-sun-room-catherine.jpg

She writes the most fascinating, mind-blowing and beautiful worlds, if only the games used them. Oh well, at least there's the books. Plus, she's graceful and pleasant, but cunning and able.

<spoiler=Trillian of Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy>http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_cX03JySIRGQ/TF1i2y9tVZI/AAAAAAAAC2U/R2KCFjuK7JY/s1600/mv5bmtk2mza0mjuwmf5bml5banbnxkftztywndy2nzi3-v1-sx480-sy319.jpg

She's a voice of sanity, like Arthur, except she's not as easily confused and stunned. Very refreshing in one of the most manic book series ever.

Barbara Gordon/Batgirl I/Oracle (DC Comics)

Janet Van Dyne/Wasp (Marvel Comics, though I'm going by the cartoon version from EMH)

EDIT: Zoey from L4D, that's who I forgot.

Easy question is easy.

Toph Maephong (Maphong...Mafong...however you spell it). Funny as hell personality, not to mention basically an earth-bending demi god. Seriously, ditch the eskimo chick and keep her around :p

Honorable mention to Princess Azula. Really really evil, one of the few fictional characters I've ever really hated, and she had one of the most interesting stories, not her own per se but how her actions in the past affected so many other characters in the series. Not to mention that, if memory serves, she had the best karmic defeat.

After her duel with Zuko, she was chained to a metal grate in the palace yard. She attempted to shoot lightning at him, but ended up accidentally electrocuting herself. At least, that's what I think happened.

No pics, not on this little device.

I'll have to go with Terra Branford(Final Fantasy VI,) Guinevere in The Warlord Chronicles, Chie Satonaka(Persona 4) and The Boss(MGS3.) I'd say Mila Kunis' character from Ted, if any movie could ever possibly get me to remember the entire cast's names. I think I need t see it written before it registers...

Your memory plays you false, friend.

After Katara tricks her with some awesome waterbending (during the duel), she chains her to the grate. Azula doesn't electrocute herself, but she does have a complete and utter breakdown, laughing, sobbing, drooling, and shooting fire and lighting any which way she can.

Still a pretty karmic defeat for someone who viewed herself as always keeping her head and being incapable of being fooled.

Not a difficult prospect.

In no real order, either of ranking or media.

By this point, she's not an original choice, but yeah, I have a soft spot for Tali.

I don't make it a secret that I enjoy My Little Pony, and Twilight is my favorite pony, so she's on the list of favorite female characters.

My favorite super heroine, and one of the few female versions of a superhero to actually eclipse her original namesake in popularity.

I loved 13, maybe it's just because she's Olivia Wilde, but I felt that she was the best of all of House's fellows. She certainly seemed to have some of the best back and forths with him.

One of gaming's defining heroines. I like her depiction in Tomb Raider Legend the best, which is incidentally my favorite game in the series.
