For me it's a tie between Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX. All brilliant for totally different reasons.

I like the good guy ending from Dark Forces II - Jedi Knight. It's so rare (or at least it was back then) for a good guy ending to still have some badass-ness to it.

Giving a fallen enemy his lightsabre back so you can finish him off without striking down an unarmed opponent? I'm not sure master Yoda would approve, but I sure as hell did :).

Probably the Mass Effect 2 ending. The whole final battle was just amazing. The music was perfect and the finishing cutscene gave a feeling of the impending fighting and tiny odds of your side winning the fight with the reapers. That suicide mission theme was the tits though and is still stuck in my head.

I'm going to say Portal. It left a cliffhanger (as set up in the end credits song), but still gave you the satisfaction of killing GLaDOS. And the cliffhanger couldn't have been set up better, as the producers could really do whatever they wanted with the next game, and still keep continuity.
Actually the original ending wasn't a cliffhanger, if I'm not mistaken. The ending with Chell being dragged off by something unknown was only added in after they decided to make Portal 2.

Yup, the original ending did not have you being dragged off like that, you just escaped. I don't generally like retcons, so I wouldn't say that was somethign I approved of.

If anyone here remembers Colony Wars and Colony Wars: Vengeance, they had some amazing endings, both as 'bad endings' and 'good endings', most of them rather bleak-in fact, the 'canon' ending for Colony Wars I has the palyer beign shot down and possibly becoming the main antagonist of Colony Wars: Vengence. Most RPGs wish they had a branching story half as complex as Colony Wars.

Dragon's Dogma has multiple endings, but while most milti ending games have two or three endings, Dragon's Dogma has eight. Most of them don't actually end the game, just the current arc, like with the dragon itself. The true ending though blew my mind and demonstrated to me that Capcom can write quite well when they put their minds to it.

The true ending was perfect.
Simple, elegant, not overdone, and does exactly what it needs to do.
Just bravo on that Capcom.

Ctrl-Alt-Del's character arc ending. The ending of Doomsday Arcade! 8-Bit Theatre before the prologue! The first Assassin's Creed!

(if you can't tell, I'm being sarcastic because they were all very terrible)

Now, I've liked a lot of the conclusions to stories, but I'm hard pressed to think of an ending that I've really liked.

Hmm...

I gotta say my favorite was the ending to Saints Row 2. You grab your shit, get into a helicopter, fly-off to see all the carnage you and your gang just caused, nod to your second-in-command who's having a fun time shooting up a bridge, then you finally claim that it's your city now and you can do whatever the fuck you want. Fade to black.

This. I only finished this game a little over a week ago but it was GOTY for 2012 before that. It was so simple yet it all made sense. One of my favorite parts was

how the camera lingered on your dead body after you stabbed yourself with Godsbane

Perfect ending to a great if unpolished game. Dark Arisen should hopefully keep up the standard. It also had me tear up right

OT: While I mentioned my love for Dragon's Dogma's ending above, another ending I adored was Disgaea 2's Good Ending...probably because I'm a sucker for romance and enjoyed Adell as a character:
