hmm. where to start?
Rainbow Six: It went to the gutter after Ravenshield. This is the series I am most bitter about, as R6, Rogue Spear and Ravenshield are amongst my all time favourites.
Ghost Recon: The first one with addons was great. Then came the console fail part 2, which I haven't played. Then came GRAW 1+2, which were bad. Ironically though, the new R6es were so abysmal that the GRAW games seemed decent in comparison.
Operation Flashpoint: The best military game out there. Then came OFP: DR. Beyond words really. But at least we got the ArmA series, which is OFP with better graphics.
System Shock: The first two were outstanding games. But it's "spiritual successor" Bioshock left me underwhelmed. Not a bad game per se, but nowhere near the originals.
Deus Ex: DX1 was a work of a genius. Invisible War was a piece of shit. I do hope that the new one will be good, but I am sceptical.
Thief: 1+2 were awesome. 3 was mediocre. but, as with the red storm games, it seemed decent compared to Ivisible War.
Fallout: 1+2 were among the best RPGs ever. 3 was meh. Not a bad game, but if you don't try to appeal to the fanbase of the former games, why take the name? I for one would have looked at FO3 more benevolently if it had it's own post apocalyptical setting instead of milking an established name.
X-COM: Notice the dash in the name? X-COM and TftD were awesome, but then the series spiraled downwards. And nothing insight that seems to stop that trend.
Need for Speed: The most awesome racing franchise with it's zenith at NfS: Porsche (Unleashed). ProStreet and Shift were the only glimpses of light of otherwise stupid games marketed at stupid people.
