Steambot Chronicles! JRPG fans hates it for being different and allowing freedom; WRPG fans hate it for being cheesy and ugly. Its essentially the worst of both worlds, and yet it works!
Ha, I love that game to. I'll admit I've only played the demo, but I like what I see.

OT: Anyone ever hear of WarTech? It's this mech based Shump (Shoot em up; think R-Type,final) thats sturctured as a fighting game. It sounds weird, and can be pretty hard at times, but I still like it.

Mine? I guess I would have to say Tomba 2: The Evil Swine returns. It was a golden platform adventure on the PS1 that was fun as hell. Any game where your protagonists primary method of killing baddies is to clamp onto their face headcrab style, leap into the air, then backflip, propelling them into a wall where they vanish into the ether is an amazing game on my watch. Honestly I wish I could get ahold of Tomba 1 but sadly, any attempt to find it fell flat.

Oddworld: Abe's Exodus. It pisses me off to hear people talk about Stranger's Wrath and not know about Abe.
Hehe... Exodus... I've played Oddysey. Yeah, it sucks that most people don't even know Abe without Munch, supposing they know him at all.

Jeff Wayne's The War of the Worlds - the game.

RTS/TBS based on the said musical based on the said radio show. Base building goes turn based, but when martians and humans start mixing in the same terratory, it goes into a protoss-zerg like battle. Still haven't beaten it, damn thing is pretty hard, but I like games that pose such challenges.
Just to be super picky, I think you'll find the musical was technically based on the book by H.G Wells, as was everything else that was ever to do with The War of the Worlds.

Second Sight has one of the best story's in a game and its on steam.

Awful controls though.
This would be my choice. A very addictive game, fun to play and a very good storyline that I did not see coming and still has me somewhat impressed. I have no issue with controls on the console version though.

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy

Seriously, awesome game. Made worse by the fact that the story planned for a sequel... which never happened.

gauntlet dark legacy, best game ever!
I LOVED THIS GAME, ESPECIALLY IN ARCADES. My friend and I literally spent over $60 in quarters on this game in the movie theater that had the arcade game. Its so great.

For me, I have a list, I like games that a lot of people haven't played or haven't enjoyed, then finding enjoyment out of them.

My main few for games people (that I know) haven't played are Freedom Fighters (PS2), Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy (PS2) and also Chime from the Xbox 360 arcade.

A few of the games that a lot of people didn't enjoy but I loved include:
-Condemned: Criminal Origins (X360)
-Touch the Dead (DS)
-House of the Dead 2&3 (Arcade)
And my #1 is the first Kane and Lynch: Dead Men.

Whoopsies, forgot about two:
Dungeon Siege, Legends Of Aranna: Apparently the second and third installments got a bigger fanbase but the first one doesn't have much (anymore at least) its a really fun third person RPG and it has a pretty good cast of pointless NPCs so you can hold some pretty good party versus enemy army combat. It's like Diablo with less of the demons on the artwork, so it's not as good but I came back to it three times since I bought it like five years ago, so if that's any testament to it's greatness there you go.

La Pucelle: Tactics: Nippon Ichi really are great game makers. A friend of mine gave me like his entire PS1 library and threw in three PS2 titles (He had what he thought was a really bad yearbook photo and didn't want me to show his then-girlfriend, my sister) one of which was this gem. I love Turn Based Strategy and Nippon Icchi, and this delivered on both fronts. You play as a bunch of nuns and their army of monster friends. Character chemistry is fantastic, gameplay as a whole is fantastic, and it has Nippon Icchi's favorite gameplay mechanic: Being more addictive than drugs. So sit down, start playing, dont stop.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System

A third person shooter where you play as a little yellow robot fighting with a droid rebellion against an army of evil robots called Mils. There's a whole bunch of weapons, including one that allows you to take control of your enemies, hillarious and over the top, and is extremely challenging. Not to mention Dan Castellaneta (voice of Homer Simpson) and Patrick Warburton voice act in it. Didn't sell very many copies due to it bieng released around the same time as Prince of Persia. :(

For those with a 360: It's available on the XBOX classics part of the Marketplace. That is unless you can find a used copy someplace.

Mine would be Venture Tycoon.

It was made by a Korean company a while ago, who no longer exist. It's a brilliant game too, not very big, but still wonderful.
