Grand Theft Auto IV.

After playing it for about 5 hours, It just tuned into generic cover shooter 12 *Now with an okay story!*
Agreed, GTA IV sucked. I thanked god for it though, without it I never would have tried Saints Row. Which is now my star child in the sandbox genre.

Fallout.
Fallout 1 & 2 are great everything after that was either pure shit or incredibly mediocre.
Zelda was also destroyed by a string of incredibly mediocre games starting with Ocarina of Time.
Also all the 3D Sonic games have destroyed Sonic.
You take that back Fallout 3 was amazing

Lets see....

1. Mass Effect.... The first one was a good mix of rpg and tps the second...horrible I will not waste money on 3 looks just as bad...

2. CoD4:MW....... I loved MW but MW2 is one of the worst MP games ever made it is pure shit....

3. Dragon Age.... Well DA2 was not nearly as bad as ME 2, but still pretty bad....

4.Halo... The series has went down hill with every game released... Reach had really bad MP but a decent SP...

Crash Bandicoot. Hands down. The 1st one was the first game I owned, the second improved, and the third was a classic. Then Sony kicked out Naughty Dog and it all went to hell.

The first game sucked, though, but nostalgia.
Yes, every game past CTR got worse and worse. However, Sony never kicked out Naughty Dog. It was just the opposite, they bought Naughty Dog. Naughty Dog left the rights with Universal to focus on other games.

Still, I'd be nice to see a GOOD crash game come out on the newer consoles.

Xenosaga. The first game was really good, the second two, not so much.
It's a good thing I didn't try the next two then. I still Xenosaga had balance issues as far as gameplay was concerned (every battle was the equivalent of a boss fight almost). I still liked Xenogears the best though. They could have just made that one game and I'd be happy.

FEAR 1 was amazing, FEAR 2 was complete shit and I don't even want to play FEAR 3.

Final Fantasies lost their soul after FFX as Hironobu Sakaguchi left SquareEnix. All downhill from there.

Fallout 1 and 2 were superior compared to Fallout 3 which I didn't really like. But I did enjoy Fallout New Vegas a lot as it was by the original developers and had lots of stuff that was supposed to be in the original Fallout 3 way back. It was also a much better game than Fallout 3. So I guess the series turned to better after all.

Difficult question really well Pokemon have added far too many pokemon now that its gotten silly, still good games but if I'm going to play Pokemon its because I want to see a few of my old favourites and soak in the nostalgia and not play through a poor 20 hour story so I can finally catch a Poliwag! I'm looking at you Black & White.
Also Bioshock really did not need a sequel, but it would be a massive stretch to say that it ruined the original for me, I'm also kind of looking forward to the next instalment, what can I say I'm an optomist.
Generally if I like the original I'll tend to like the sequel maybe its the familiarity that I enjoy or the chance to revisit memorable worlds and characters and hopefully see a few little mistakes in the original ironed out.

Its a good topic this but its hard for me to answer but I guess it all comes down to this;

'I know that Crash Bandicoot looked really stupid with tribal tattoos and riding monsters but he was a part of my childhood and the poor quality of the later games do not deminish the pure awesomeness of the originals........ he's also not bad on a go-kart either!'

As mentioned , CoD , but with a different approach.

CoD 1 : Yeah, it was good!

CoD 2 (Big Red One) : CRACK!!!1!1!1!!1!1!!

CoD 3 : Oh! Lots of innovation ! Great ! Well played Treyarch .

CoD 4 : Heroin!!!1!!1!11!

CoD MW2 : Bit repetitive, but still solid! Very solid.

CoD WaW : Hummmmm, aahhh....Nope, sorry Treyarch...

CoD BOps : Kinda good in the begining..But now no, just no, the awesomeness of the LS69 won't save you!!!

Let me guess your the 3rd Type of Ff fan?

Type 1: you can appreciate all the games for what they are and there good games, 12 was actually one of there most ambitious and great titles.

Type 2: your attached to the game that introduced you and your convinced its your favorite.

Type 3: you like 6-10 and thats it, everything else is bad, wait type 3 also likes 4 dont forget that.

I assume your type 3?

Find it outstanding people cant see that all the ff games are good in there own right, honestly i think 4,6,7,9,10 are the weakest, there still great but the weakest hands down.

I just hate ff fans i guess, to bad i am one, at least am type 1.

OP: Eschalon Book
Gothic 1

Eschalon was an alright game was promising had flaws but the second just RUINED everything that was good and just ruined absolutely everything it lost all its soul and heart with the sequel.

Gothic just shot itself in the foot after 1, I've never seen a game series go so downhill so fast it was so frustrating and just so bad i'd rather play big rigs because at least that game is funny to play, Gothic 2.3,4 were just painful they were depressing because they were just that bad, omg i cant bileve i wasted all that money hoping in vain theyd make better games, it seems like they were to busy snorting crack during development, just oh my god, why Gothic WHYYYY.

What did you developers do to my Spyro and Crash Bandicoot?!

Also, what happened to Descent series and Timesplitters? Pushed aside for Haze and Red Faction. Woohoo. (Red Faction is good, but still...)

Also, Medal of Honor series started stagnating after Frontline but was kinda saved by MoH 2010, which I thought was decent.

Also, Prince of Persia 2008 + whining fans + PoP movie = Forgotten Sands = End of franchise in favor of 476 Assassin's Creed games. Terrific.

3 Pages and no Mercenaries... that I could find anyway. I don't find the 2nd as terrible as many do. But it dosen't hold up to the first at all.
Doesn't hold up to the first you say? allow me to prove you wrong, with a tugboat.

OT: Resident Evil. RE 5 was not a bad game (not a horrible game at least), but it's no RE 4 that's for certain.

I REEAAALLY hope you're not talking about 2 and 3, they're amazing!
I'm thinking F.E.A.R., original was fucking awesome, 2 is meh and I don't count 3 as a proper F.E.A.R. game although it was fun gamelay-wise.

World of Warcraft. Started off great, Burning Crusade made it awesome...Then it went downhill. WotLK was pretty much WoW: Resident Evil Edition, and Cataclysm felt so unfinished, even by MMO standards, that I'm actually GLAD I got hacked.
Totally agree, Cata pretty much killed WoW for me. I think they banked way too much on recreating lower content and considering it part of Cataclysm. The new lower content is great but the actual expansion is lacking.

Correct.

I admittedly haven't ever played the original Rayman, but Rayman 2 was easily the best game I had ever played for a really big chunk of my life. Rayman 3 was pretty good as well.

Then the Rabbids came.

WHY!?
You do know about Origins, right?

Everyone needs to know about Origins.
Not available for PC, I can't play.
