Good god the nostalgia.

The MediEvil series. Maybe I'm looking through the wonderful rose-coloured spectacles of nostalgia, but Christ I loved those games.

Fuck yes, I loved MediEvil.

I don't know anyone who has heard of it, let alone played. The sequel was awesome too.
Holy damn I remember Tombi.

Seriously, the nostalgia in this thread is absolutely overwhelming. Now for one of my own.

Anyone?

oh my god I loved those games when I was younger. I must have played through each of them a dozen times.

Also, I'm very surprised no one's mentioned it yet, but:

This is nothing short of an amazing game, and definitely my personal favourite. After looking on it longingly with rose-tinted glasses, I got a PS2 again and replayed it, and boy I was not let down. Perhaps a tad on the easy side, but definitely unique and so fun! And also, gorgeous to look at.
I'm dying to get my hands on this. It's virtually impossible to find and I've heard fantastic things about it.
Well, I found it on amazon.co.uk for around £10, which I thought was a great price! Shop around on amazon and you'll be sure to find it! :D

This one is easy for me.

Great atmosphere and pretty cool weapon mechanics. Left mouse button controlled weapons in your left hand. Usually guns of various types. Right mouse button controlled your right hand which was all spells.

Final boss was a bit of a let down but overall the game great. it's the only game I've ever played where you don't get to the first boss until you're about 70% through the campaign.

999: 9 Hours 9 Persons 9 Doors
It's a visual novel/adventure game on the DS. The story and how it unfolds is extremely clever. It's a story that can only be told through videogames and quite possibly only on the DS. Without a doubt the best visual novel type game on the DS; which is saying quite a bit since the Ace Attorney Series and Hotel Dusk are on the DS. But, even that's putting it lightly because it's one of the best games I've played period.

Mm. Another vote for S2 - Silent Storm.

This is probably my favourite underrated game that no one played, though. Lair (ps3):

Made by the people who created the Rebel Assault games. Obviously, you can see the influence from that series. Even though the freedom of flight is much greater in this game, just as the visuals have become all in-game rendered (in 1080p as well, with dynamic mesh-density on the dragon models depending on distance -- which creates a very smooth play).

I wouldn't call it a particularly outstanding game with riveting conduction that borders classical art and so on. But you can fly your own dragon with the sixaxis controls, and roast small soldiers on the ground with dragonfire. What else could you possibly want in a game?

(Factor 5 has since gone bust)

Ah, thank you for the kind recommendation, but that's my problem, I don't have a working credit card nor any cash to put on it. XD Ah well, I'll remember it~ :D

On a similar note: Vib-Ribbon. It was also only released in Japan and Europe, and it's surprisingly awesome. One of the first rhythm games to actually allow you to use your own music (in 1999! on the PS1! WHAT IS THIS SORCERY~), it has aged really well thanks to the cool vector graphics and awesome music.
I tried DragonForce on Vib Ribbon...

I-Ninja for the ps2. Funny as hell, great gameplay!

Dynamite Headdy on the sega genesis. One of the most creative platformers on the system.

If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Tribes. Starsiege Tribes Is outdated. Tribes 2 and Tribes Aerial Assualt are awesome. And I'm waiting for my copy of Tribes: Vengenace in the mail. In case you don't know, Tribes was a sci-fi FPS based around multiplayer. Doesn't sound to original huh? Well, it was. It had jetpacks, cool weapons, an teambased gameplay, unlike Quake and Unreal at the time. Had some good customazation at the time, and is still freaking awesome to play.
