Does Max Payne count? The person who wrote the lines for that game simply has to be a trained poet or something. Everything in both games is so expertly done and it's really the only game I know that can live up to movies trying to convey the same emotion (such as Sin City).
The same thing goes for Assassin's Creed, there was also more to that game than people seem to be bothered with. Also, Dungeon Keeper, which was original and brilliantly well thought out. I'm still hoping for a third game in this franchise. Last but not least there's Heroes of Might and Magic; there seem to be about 100 old gits out there who loved HOMAM 1, 2 and 3 but seem to have disappeared completely since 4 and 5 have been released.

I'm going to give a big +1 out to the Age of Empires series and Empire Earth (minus Empire Earth III which looks too much like Wc3 set in our world not Azeroth).
Rise of Nations needs credit.
Another for the Total War series, though Empire is bringing them into the spotlight.

Silent Hunter III, amazing game. If you like boats or WWII and whatnot DL it.

TIMESHIFT!!! Excellent gameplay, mess with soilders with time manipulation, mytop 5 by far, alongside oblivion, bioshock, cod4 and fallout
Section 8 is the game for me.
It just seems like it was just buried with all the other shooters (Halo ODST, etc.) coming out right after its release.

OK, even though I need to shut up about this game, Blazblue...unless there ARE people talking about it outside of dustloop and SRK?.. whatever I stand by my first statement.
