I've got quite a few stockpiled on my desktop, but up til this point the only two I've played are Spelunky and Super Meat Boy. Great games, both of them.

So far I've been loving They Bleed Pixels, easily one of the best platformers I've ever played.

Bastion is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played and god-damn, that voice actor. *melts*

I took my first bite into FTL today; good god if it isn't one of the most immediately compelling things I've ever played.

Second prize goes to Machinarium, I love the design, the adding in of simple and complex hints, the music, the puzzles, literally everything about it; apart from it being short, but ho hum.

Orcs must die series by FAR.

Then, I have Magicka, another good game, as althougt I am not sure, Dungeon Defenders seems like this (I cant decide, something about that game puts me off, then it seems like I am about to quit but I find something that makes up for the game´s bad points. Repeat cycle).

Minecraft is righttt in the "middle ground" line. It just could be SO MUCH MORE than what it is right now...

Games like FTL, Minecraft, Amnesia and Bastion have moved from the indie game into something like Indie+, what with all the hype and accolades they've received.
I don't really see how being well-promoted and well-recieved makes them any less independent, unless we're talking strictly in budget terms; and that Bastion was distributed through Warner Bros or whatever.

Although maybe indie just means 'not AAA' these days...

AI War and Solium Infernum.
...Holy crap, someone else played Solium Infernum. That game really deserves to have been more popular than it was. Not my favourite strategy game, but it's still one of the most unique and clever I've ever played. The mechanics are brilliant and despite the simplistic visuals it oozes style.

I'd have to repeat what several people said and go with Amnesia, FTL, and Minecraft. Amnesia being my favorite out of the 3. I can't wait for A Machine for Pigs :D

I recently played through Tomas was Alone and I had more of an attachment with those blocks then with any other video game characters. I highly recommend it.

hello, id like to firmly welcome you to the escapist community and congratulate you on making your first post on the forums, id also like to advice you not to make a thread about half life and not to take "am I the only one" threads seriously, have fun posting.

anyway, my favourite would by far be killing floor, its awesome, awesome music, awesome gameplay, awesome aesthetics, awesome heads lined up on shelves, and an awesome feeling when you kill the patriarch, fuck patriarchs.

Hehe exactly that. It could of done with a much better interface though, made it a tough sell when showing people the game :/ But I have a few friends who have it and we play the odd game every now and then.

Well thank you kind person. Even though I have been on the escapist almost everyday since like the start of Unskippable, well it is always nice to be welcomed I guess. :)
