Wow, quite a shitstorm about DotNW. I got it two weeks ago (early Christmas), and 5 minutes in started joking about how I was playing as Ichigo (from Bleach). Same VA, same attack, same dual personality issues... I'd have to say it's my favourite JRPG out of those I've played to the finish.

Apparently it had a plot twist at some point. Was I not supposed to realize who he really was during the intro sequence?

My favourite moment would have been when I started the New Game + and had a level 85 Imp that hit for 9000 on the first boss. That was fun.

FFX on an HD tv. I actually got to see what things looked like for a change instead of the usual projected image I had on my 26 year old box. Who would have thought the Al Bhed Primers were actually books?! I certainly never knew.
I haven't broken that game out since I got my HDTV, so I have a question:

Blurry or not?

Even on the smallest of HDTV's FFX is like playing a whole new game. If you're asking if it's blurry on an HDTV, then no. When you play it you won't realize just how blurry your old tv was making it look.

That particular experience was the final selling point for me; my tax return is getting me an LCD, hands down. (hopefully 60" because that's the exact space my new entertainment center/wall has room for, yes the entire wall is my new entertainment center, it was an X-Mas gift from some generous family members)

I wonder if the same is true of FFX-2; Yuna in lady luck costume in high res = happy me.

My favourite jRPG/RPG/Game is Dragon Quest VIII. The whole experience was beautiful, nostalgic and it really sucked me in. Favourite memories to go with them are hard to pick out, so I'll go with one related to DQ8. I remember playing the demo of it, I got it from an issue of Shonen Jump back when I subscribed. It captivated me and I wanted to play more, so I actually went and bought the game opening day. never regretted it once.

Um...Tales of Symphonia is my favorite game, and the one I got the most significant attachment to? I guess? I mean, it's also one of only two games where I found myself cursing at a character on-screen. Not cursing out of frustration. Cursing because I wanted to kill them painfully. Yeah...I'd gotten rather attached to a certain character by that point, and seeing her suffer needlessly was rather affecting. >_>
Well, I suddenly found myself screaming that I'd shove my swords so far down his throat he'd be crapping steel in hell, so...yeah, I kinda was.
I think that scene would have been a lot more suspenseful for me if a little message that said "Colette has learned Judgment" did not pop up halfway through it. That clearly told me that Colette would remain a party member, killing any chance of me thinking that I would actually lose her (though I would have preferred that).
I didn't even notice, honestly. It's pretty difficult to distract me when I'm immersed.

Not sure it would have made much difference, anyway. I suspected she wasn't lost to me forever (and with her the item thieving and artillery/buffing; she wasn't a melee monster, yet), but that wasn't why I was upset in the first place.
