I can't believe that I'm the first to say isometric viewed 2d backgrounds. Baldurs Gate 2 and FF7-9 are graphically some of the most beautiful games (also bizarrely FF Tactics art style really work for me). It's probably a cheat to say pre rendered backgrounds as they are drawings but I love them.

The Human/Environment rendering cell shade style done in SMT: Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga. The human models are outright beautiful, and the environments are easy on the eyes.
Ugh, Gamefaq's pictures arn't exactly high quality, but whatevers.

I like my graphics detailed. It can have pretty much any visual style, though I guess I'm more partial to realism, but what I like the most is being able to point out the individual plates on a kinghts suit of armor, see the scales on the face of a lizard creature, and the way a strap of leather depresses the cloth it's worn over. Best examples are Advent Children, the Mass Effect 2 cinematic trailer, and the Onimusha 3 opening movie.

I love the graphics on games that came out when 3d was becoming available and the 2d games had graphics that looked 3d but arent like super mario rpg or sonic 3d blast

I pretty much love them all, even old 8bit sprite style, just as long as the right artists are using them. SF4 was gawd-awful ugly, but I think that's more because they character design was heinous. There was a G4 piece (with Sessler) where they talked about no longer rating games on graphics, but on art direction, which was a smart move, because really, it's more varied than the genres, and they all have their place.

The page 1 examples are all pretty gorgeous.

I'm fine with any art or technical style in video games. My favorite have to be cell-shaded, however, especially with Borderlands, Prince of Persia, or the Sly games.

I enjoy games with near-photorealistic graphics as well, like Crysis. See, the thing with Crysis is that the developers made some techniques more obvious than in real life, which made you point them out and state how beautiful it all was.
