For the longest time it was Hot Fuzz. I still love the movie, but it's no longer my favorite.

My top three movies are now Pulp Fiction, Contact, and Manhattan.

Slumdog Millionaire. Out of all the movies I've seen I just can't think of any other that does quite as many things quite as well as this film does.

Other than that...

Favorite action movie: iRobot. Great action + great visuals + a brain in it's head + Will Smith = pure awesome! (Honorable mention going to The Matrix and District 9, who both managed to tick all but one of these boxes)

Favorite Animation: Toy Story 3. Watched it three times in one day when it showed up on Sky Anytime it's that good.

Favorite comedy: Hot Fuzz. Because Hot Fuzz.

Favorite Superhero movie: Spiderman 2. Even better than The Dark Knight and yes I did just say that.

It's gotta be Fargo for me. I love the dark humor, great story, brilliant acting and the accents. I love Scott Pilgrim, Kick ass, Shaun of the Dead, and Spiderman 2. I also like TT3D: closer to the edge if we're counting documentaries.

Boondock Saints is my hands down favorite. There are others, but if I gotta be stuck on a desert island with just one, Saints is it.

2001 A Space Odyssey is my all time favourite, but there are literally hundreds of dvd's on my shelf that are *nearly* as good as that.

Donnie Darko
Sunshine
A Scanner Darkly
Evangelion (Death & Rebirth, End of, 1.11, 2.22 etc etc)
Akira
District 9
Solaris (Both versions)
Bladerunner
Dune (David Lynch version)

Hang on... These are all sci fi....

Definitely Patton. Its got everything that I could want from a movie. It has complex characters, action, drama, and historical significance. George C Scott did such a good job, when people think about Patton, he is actually the first to come to mind. The ending got to me a little as well, really sad seeing what happened to the guy.

I love that movie too, it gets a lot of crap though. Everyone says it glorifies vigilantism, yet everyone loves Batman.....

The Lord of the Rings trilogy. If I really had to choose one, I'd go with the first.

Either district 9 or Scott pilgrim, depending on my mood.

EDIT: This is like my 3rd time getting first post on the second page today... Bit freaky...

Inception, personally. I'm relatively young and haven't seen every good movie that's out there, but up to this point I like Inception better than any other I've seen.

Source Code and Eagle Eye are close seconds.

Fast Times at Ridgemont High, because... because shut up. It's the best film of the 80s/all time.

Or Cloverfield, because it's "different".
