I'm going to say the original Turok. Why?

You fight a f@#$ing cyborg T-Rex that breathes fire and shoots lasers out of it's eyes

Don't forget the original Smash Bros.

The Pokemon Stadium games are great, especially if you have the gb color attachment and like to play gen 1/2 games.

There's also this one tank game that I can't remember the name of, but it's awesome.

Turok 2 is still my favorite game of all time, so I highly recommend you try that.

Other good options are Turok 1, Goldeneye, Battletanx: Global Assault, Vigilante 8, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Majora's Mask, Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire, Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, and Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2; just to name a few.

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, F-Zero X is a fantastic game. The graphics are pretty shonky, but you need to make sacrifices if you're gonna have 30 racers on the same track.

Other games that have been mentioned in abundance but still need to be stressed:

Banjo-Kazooie
Jet Force Gemini
Diddy Kong Racing...

You know what, if the game has RARE's logo on it you're pretty much guaranteed a God tier title. Blast Corps was probably their weakest game, but even that has its unique charm.

And the Mystical Ninja games. Seriously. The first is a 3D Zelda-esque action adventure, the second is more 2D platform action-oriented adventure, similar to the SNES titles. Both have great gameplay and hilariously Japanese dialogue. Hell, the first game even has canned laughter.

Conker's Bad Fur Day is my absolute favourite.

I still love me some Goldeneye multiplayer.

Honourable mentions would have to go to anything Turok, if you were/are lucky enough to be allowed to get them in a non-censored form.

The Zeldas pretty much bugged out on me sooner or later, so my favourite Zelda still takes place on the SNES... same goes for anything Mario or Yoshi or Goemon/Mystical Ninja, really.

It's a shame the N64 was crushed by the CD, the PSX and the then budding 3D boom. It felt like a fresh and more accessible take on the Neo Geo, really.

For me, in its days, it was the last console that offered to be played spontaneously both with random kids or hardcore creatures of the night.

I just got a Nintendo 64 last week. So far, I have Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and Star Wars: Episode I Podracing. I just need some suggestions for good games to seek out, and I wanted to know what were some of the best of the lot.

My personal favorite, was either Goldeneye or Super Smash Bros.

So go ahead and mention some great classics of the bygone era, when Nintendo wasn't just thrusting gimmicks at us.
The seven games above are, in my opinion, the finest on the N64. In general, I would urge you to pick up all of those, and avoid several of the derivative, overrated Rare games on the N64 that people here are likely to praise, i.e. Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing, Banjo-Kazooie, etc.

Get Mario Kart 64, by all means, but Diddy Kong Racing is overall a much, much better kart racer for the N64. For a start, you can play battle games against bots, and the arenas are not ridiculously oversized like the MK64 ones...

Avoid Shadows of the Empire like the plague- the only thing it did right was the Battle of Hoth, and then Rogue Squadron came along and improved the gameplay in every single way, and did a better version of Hoth to boot.

Super Mario 64 and Conkers Bad Fur day were probably the finest 3D platformers ever made up until Galaxy came out, and even then they're still hot contenders.

I recently got Body Harvest- the granddaddy of GTA with a massive collection of vehicles usable in an open world. I'm struggling with the first part, but this vid hints at many good times to come.

Outside that, I hear some lesser known games were very good as well, such as Space Station Silicon Valley, and Harvest Moon 64.

Oh! Almost forgot PilotWings 64. Can be quite tough to beat at times, but there is nothing quite as relaxing after a hard day's work than hang gliding freely around a tropical island to that music...

Majora's Mask is by far my favorite N64 game, but that's because it's one of my favorite games in general.

Close contenders are Kirby 64 because I love Kirby, Paper Mario because it's a surprising good RPG, and Ocarina of Time because I'm in love with the Zelda series.

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask is among my personal "best games ever" as is Banjo Kazooie.

Others: Banjo Tooie, Pokemon Snap/Stadium 1/2, Mario Party 2, Super Mario 64, Kirby and the Crystal Shards, Star Fox 64, Pokemon Puzzle League

Those there, definitely those three. Aidyn Chronicles and Quest 64 definitely. Be warned though, Aidyen Chronicles is hard, extremely hard.

I have a desire to quote each and every one of these posts to point out that they need to be played.

The Banjo Kazooie games, Diddy Kong Racing, Donkey Kong 64 are all great choices. I would recommend Mario Party, but it's a controller destroyer so it's a good idea to stay away from that.

What about Mario Party? I personally enjoyed 2 & 3, but I guess a majority of people enjoyed the first installment as well. Either way, the Mario Party franchise is great for the N64.

Mario Party... Me and my brother used to be quite competitive about that. So we really wore down our controllers with rotating the stick and jamming certain buttons as fast as possible. I even wore down the skin on my hand when I found that I might be able to better rotate the stick of the controller with the palm of my hand T__T
I used the palm of my hand... I ended up wearing down the skin there so much I actually started bleeding a few times. Tug of war, pedal power, paddle battle. Our analog sticks were almost useless after Mario Party.

I would never recommend anyone to get the first Mario Party games due to how bad it is for the controller. It's a great game, but considering how hard I assume it is to get new controllers these days that's a bad idea.

Did you reach the lava world? The boss battle with the Dragon there was epic. What about the three Guardians? Their second battles are always trippy and fun. Though there was one level that stumped me until I stumbled onto the concept of Button bashing. The Carnival/Olympics level.
