I had that game (though here it was called Holy Magic Century). It was really bad. The only thing that impressed me were the massive overworld sections, but since your character runs so slow and you face random mob encounters every other second I wished they HADN'T made the world so expansive.
That one part where you catch the ship over to an island or something made me have to restart the game. There was no way to go back, no HP recovery items, and I wasn't strong enough to kill a single monster there.
The single biggest flaw in that game was that no matter how crazy and strong my magic got, my strongest attack was ALWAYS hitting them with my cane. How piss weak is that? What's the point of having all these spells at your disposal - particularly the water ones that require you to be within cane range anyway - when they're all weaker than a child hitting you with a wooden stick? I beat the final boss by standing next to him and whacking him with my walking stick, casting recovery spells whenever my HP got too low. Joyous.
