Chrono Trigger fo' sheezy. I concur with Pedro that Cross was a good game on its own, but such a terrible sequel.
See, I felt Chrono Cross was a genius sequel. It took a tiny loose end (Mother Brain) and spun it into a giant web of a plot (FATE and the Chronopolis experiments), eventually leading back to where the series began (Lavos).
It was indeed a genius sequel, probably because they actually let Kato take the story and run with it, and he's a very talented writer. Unfortunately most of the plot threads went over most heads. There's a great tie-in to it in the DS remake of Trigger, as well.

It's not my favorite "Squaresoft" production, though. That would be Final Fantasy Tactics.

I'm stuck between The bouncer, vagrant story, front mission 3 and star ocean:TTEOT.

Honestly i know Square is better know for their FF games, but i've found their non-ff titles to be a lot more enjoyable.

Was Dragon Quest by Square Enix too?

The thread is apparently for titles before the Square Enix merger, so that would disqualify Dragon Quest and that particular Star Ocean title.

If that was the case I would be saying Illusion of Gaia or Soul Blader.

My personal favorite game from those days is SaGa Frontier 1.
I'll second that.
I'd also have to say Secret of Mana.
Personally, I don't see what the big deal is about Chrono Trigger. I mean it's a great game, but not the best, IMO. [prepares self for an onslaught]

Parasite Eve, Chrono Trigger, Secret of Mana, Breath of Fire, Secret of Evermore, Bahamut Lagoon, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Xenogears. That's about it. Too bad you only sad Squaresoft Games otherwise I would have said Terranigma from Enix...
Breath of Fire is a Capcom game. I think Squaresoft just did the English localization.

Gotta go with Chrono Cross. First RPG I really, really got into. It catches a lot of crap from certain people, but I'd say it's at least the best J-RPG on the original Playstation.

Seeing as Chrono Cross is my favorite game period I'm going to have to go with that. I think it's a far better sequel then many people give it credit for but I understand why people don't like it, especially as the sequel to Chrono Trigger.

Chrono Cross, by all means. I loved Chrono Trigger, but Chrono Cross was seventeen types of fucking awesome. Except for its ending, which was a massive letdown.
Got to agree with this. I loved Chrono Trigger, and still play it (Yay for a DS version), but before I lost disc one of Chrono Cross, it was some of the most fun I have had playing a game.

Chrono Trigger, hands down.
Either this, or Vagrant Story. Both excellent games, I just hope square makes a remake of Vagrant story like they have with all their other games.

Can I say "Kingdom Hearts"? After all, it is just ''half'' Final Fantasy.

If not, I'd then pick "The World Ends with You".

Or any game after the fusion with Enix doesn't count?

If the box says Squaresoft, its all good. But TWEWY is an SE published title, so it doesn't count.
