A top five list of mine would look something like this

Collide
Jimi Hendrix Experience
John Lee Hooker
Muddy Waters
The Zombies
The Checks
The Mars Volta
Cream
Shihad
The Datsuns

Only, there'd be five.

I've been listening to a lot of The Beatles lately, they'll probably get added to that list soon enough.

If you like Iron Maiden then would probably have a safe bet with The Mars Volta. Maybe. Try something from their album De-Loused In The Comatorium. Or from The Bedlam In Goliath, those albums are on the heavy side of music.

Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, System Of A Down, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Slipknot, Disturbed, Symphony X, Arch Enemy, Fear Factory, Trivium and Black Tide. Can't decide which one of these is the best because whenever I hear a new song of them it will change.

Hmm... this is a tough 'un.

I'm gonna have to go for:

Tally Hall (www.tallyhall.com [http://www.tallyhall.com])
Leo (www.leotheband.net [http://www.leotheband.net])
Muse
Electric Light Orchestra
SR-71 (mostly...)
Jack Conte (his youtube [http://www.youtube.com/user/jackcontemusic])

I know the siblings of Leo's lead singer really well (how I 'discovered' them). They're a fantastic group... give 'em a look. =]

Side note, I am so glad to see no Gangster Rap.

I guess all the "homies" are too busy impregnating female dogs and exploding plastic bottles to be posting on forums.

I do love The Roots and The Beastie Boys though, but then that's Hip Hop and Rap respectively, not Gangster Rap.

P.S. that was "Fuckin' hoes and bustin' caps" 4 youz dat don't liv on da streeeetz *hand sign*

In no particular order:

Frank Klepacki
Children of Bodom
Sabaton
Disturbed
Metallica
ACDC
Motörhead

Frank Klepacki is a freaking genius!
That he is.

Mine'd have to be:

Alice in Chains - amazing grunge band. Too bad about Layne.
Rammstein - incredible dance metal/heavy metal German band. Till Lindemann is an amazing vocalist.
Queen - one of the greatest bands ever, in my opinion. It's a shame about Freddy Mercury.
Fear Factory - I rather like my heavy/death/industrial metal, and they fit the bill.

My all time fav: Pink Floyd

Then some really awesome ones
Rise Against
Counting Crows
Refused
Oomph
Glad to see some Refused love! Though I only really like The Shape of Punk to Come (To Fan the Flames of Discontent is okay, but TSoPtC is essential).

This is kind of a tough question, but the easy answer for me is Thrice. I get some crap for liking them, but I really couldn't care less.

Other bands I've been listening a lot lately include:
MxPx (the band that got me into punk in the first place)
No Doubt
Blink 182
The Gaslight Anthem

...I feel like I listen to less and less "obscure" music every day.

My favorite bands are Clutch, KMFDM, Depeche Mode, The Dead Milkmen, Devo, and Gwar. I am also going to shamelessly plug my own http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lm-T2MJFBI

Radiohead, and Tool is really good, i have a lot of tastes but these partain to me more then most.
What's it with Tool fans liking Radiohead, and Radiohead fans liking Tool? Must be the melodic, prog-rock connection.

Eh, I'd go with My Bloody Valentine and The Rolling Stones.

Yes, let's all intentionally listen to the music of our peers. That'll create cultural diversity.

It changes. It's usually of these 5.

  • Amon Amarth
    Avenged Sevenfold
    Bullet for my Valentine
    Atreyu
    Alestorm

and occasionally The Misfits.

I just noticed how many bands I like begin with A.
Alestorm is that Pirate Metal?
Yep, they're the most famous Pirate Metal band around. There's some others but I can't remember their names.

Rise Against... been listening to them forever, even before anyone had ever heard of them...
Heaven Shall Burn... Still don't think that many people have heard of them, but they are an amazing metalcore band from Germany... same with Caliban...

Top 5 would probably be:
Rise Against
Heaven Shall Burn
Caliban
Authority Zero
Strike Anywhere
Hey I listen to Heaven Shall Burn and Caliban! On to topic my favourite band is probably Iron Maiden but Atreyu are also good they're a bit Slipknotesque with singing style.
