I'm American, and my favorite British thing has to be the accent. I just love the way it sounds :)
You do know we have more than one, right? I mean, generally speaking, you've got:

Western Highlands
Eastern Highlands
Lowlands
Shetland
Orkney
Hebridean
Northern Irish
North Yorkshire Dales
North Yorkshire Moors
Vale Of York
West Yorkshire
Teesside
Sunderland
Northumberland
Tyneside
Glaswegian
Geordie
Peak District
East Midlands
Brummie
Black Country
Nearly Welsh
Southern
Somerset
Devonian
Cornish
Essex
London
Cockney
... et cetera

That's far from all of it, though. Up to twenty or thirty years ago and still to some extent now, people from the Dales could tell which part of which Dale someone else called home by the accent. Keighley, Halifax and Huddersfield are three different accents within the West Yorkshire dialect. The same can probably be said of the Derbyshire Dales, the Highlands and so on. I stopped for fuel on the north coast of Scotland once, years ago, and the girl who came out to serve me had a local accent that was a long way from Edinburgh or Glasgow. I'd have asked her to marry me but that legislation hadn't gone through parliament yet.
I realize that there are more than one, but being so far removed from the areas where they are most prevalent means that distinguishing between them is beyond me. The same principles apply to the American accent, creating a wide range of dialects as you move from place to place, but in both cases, most people think of the same thing when they hear the phrases 'American accent' or 'British accent'.

No, it's Black. The ribbon around it is slowly coming of, am thinking of replacing it with either a white on or a red one.
Bolly!
Call me when you replace it so we can sit around the fire complaining about things and twiddling our moustaches.

I got a lot of odd looks when I wore it on a walk down the lane today.
Will we be sat in big red leather chairs with a glass of expensive alcohol?

Me and My girlfriend got ours when we went to london, twas fine wearing them there, but when we got back to backwards Torbay, that's when the odd looks happened. Was funny, I got off the train in a suit and shiny black boots, my girlfriend was wearing a long black cotton trench coat. and we were both wearing our bowler hats, man, London is so much better then where I currently live.

Things that were invented by the British:

Steam engines
Turbines
CRTs...in that case the television
Vacuum tubes...and the thing that made them obsolete...
Microchips

And in terms of music:

Judas Priest
Iron Maiden
Whitesnake
Black Sabbath
Ozzy Osbourne
Def Leppard
Deep Purple
Motorhead

Pretty much the traditional style of Heavy Metal in general. \m/

I might be american, but at least I have some English/Scottish/Welsh heritage! Soooo... Go England!

I can say I'm proud of english comedy especially Monty Python, also the accent and history is awesome...

Just a quick question, what do the english hold against the welsh exactly? I know there has been a long feud between scotland and england, and also a ton of revolutions in ireland but... What about the Welsh is so bad?
they have sex with sheep

Doctor Who.

Or was, I should say. *shakes fist at Moffat*

Second vote goes to Stephen Fry.

Being a northerner, I shed a tear everytime someone tars us with the same brush as they do the rest of England with the term "British accent".

Things I like about Britain? Nothing really, I love being English and having a sense of patriotism but I actually dislike living here, although I don't know what I'd do without real ale.

Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, anything Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg have had their hands on - The funniest people on earth.

Iron Maiden - One of the most talented and timeless bands I've ever heard.

Top Gear - Why did Discovery ruin it?

Scottish beer, The Axis of Perdition (a Silent Hill influenced black metal band) and Brass Eye are all great.

But the best thing about Britain is someone very special to me. You know who you are.

I do think English TV (sorry there is only a handful of shows produced in Wales, Scotland and Ireland that are good) has produced a huge amount of quality programming. Although the last ten years have produced very little in relation to the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's.

A pleothara of quality films and music. I am currently goign through an 'Alan Clarke' period (one of Britain's far to often overlooked directors). I've managed to get hold of a number of his less well known TV films that are not available on dvd.

Snooker not pool. 18ft by 9ft 6inch table, now theres a sport of skill. Nothing to do with the fact Ronnie O Sullivan (the most nstrually skilled sportsman to live in my opinion) was owned at pool in America!

While the NHS has many flaws I personally think a free health service is a necessity for any (reasonably) economically stable industrial country that wishes to be considered civilised.

Britain doesn't have a death penalty in practice (technically you can be hung for treason or piracy (as in pirate ship not file sharing) I think) but to the best of my knowledge it has not been enforced.
