Just thought of a good one: the "Adoring Fan" from Oblivion.

That guy was my constant companion throughout my quest to save the world. I was quite upset when he got killed... until I realised some bug meant that he had resurrection skills to rival Jesus. In fact it scared the daylights out of me when that ghost from the past showed up smack in front of my face again a couple days later.
You sir, made me lol.

Tails was also a faithful companion in my sonic days on my sega
Hk also tops my list for his definition of love alone
I also enjoyed Deekin Scalesinger from never winter nights

Soren, from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance. Let's face it, without Soren's help, Ike couldn't have possibly beaten Daein. Soren is a GENIUS tactician. And in battle, he is insanely powerful, because he has complete control over the wind and partial control of fire and lightning. On top of that, he can heal any ally to full health with ease.

What about Glottis from Grim Fandango?

Glottis the oversized elemental spirt, the wenchhead with a gambling problem, pining for his bonewagon while hunched behind a baby grand, man now that's a character!

I'll never forget Manny's problemed side-kick, I can't think of a videogame friendship any stronger. They where a truly great duo because think of where they'd be without each other. Manny would be working for burros for eternity and Glottis would be stuck in some basement garage, slaving, unappreciated on old junkers, or worse laying heartless in a petrified forest.
I second that, Glottis was managed to be charming, loveable, over the top and still manage to fit into the story as a sidekick.

The Scottish guy from No One Lives Forever 2 is also rather awesome, a hulkish man in a kilt who battles mimes and all manners of evil goones (he also drives a Tricycle).

Alyx has done alot to impress me as a sidekick. She holds her own in a standoff, keeps her mouth shut(for the most part) on long walks, and always manages to show up just in time(if not for the fight, to compliment me after).

The Companion cube deserves a mention. Never have cold, metal edges looked so warm and friendly.

Minsc ruled. As did Imoen and Jahira.

But I'll have to go with Banjo or Kazooie. Depends on who you think's the ***** and who's the butch.

What the hell was the name of that Interrogation droid from KOTOR2? Him too.

The Arbiter

Honorable mentions go to Wrex , Riku from Kingdom Hearts, Luigi, companion cube, Capt. Macmillan from Cod 4 even though he is your CO. I think I tend to enjoy the sidekicks more than the heroes in a lot of games though.

Pliskin off of MGS2, yes I know he was Snake and as such is a hero, but for most of the game he was the side-kick. Also pretty much every sidekick in Timesplitters: Future Perfect, ahh, there are some good ones, Harry Tipper, that robot, that slutty girl...

sam from evil dead:regeration was alotta fun as a character. he may not have been that funny but guile from chrono cross became a mainstay of my party as did gyrobic.

i agree cole and baird from gow are good honorable mentions but they're greenhorns in the grand scheme of things.

My gun. It's always by my side.

...but seriously, I'm going for Hendrix from Red Faction, R-110 from TimeSplitters: Future Perfect and HK-47 from KotOR.

You know, R-110 and HK-47 seem like they'd be poker buddies or something.

Agro, the horse from Shadow of the Colossus. He was really there when you needed him, and later in the game of course he really took one for the team.
