Mortal Kombat games (at least lately) have had very impressive intro cinematics. Watching Deception, Shaolin Monks, Armageddon. Those intros were very intense. Makes me wish they created an MK movie made in all CGI.

I know I'm gonna regret this, but I actually found the live action MK movie entertaining... I think I'd rather watch it, with all it's inherent flaws, than an updated CGI flick. There, I said it.

But yeah, agreed. Those are some hardcore intros. Brutal.

Dawn of War for being full of space marine awesomeness is an honourable mention.

Winner for me is Mario 64. (Eyeballs through the forehead ftw)
Damn someone beat me to Dawn of War! Also Soul Reaver was very good.

Master of Orion 2. At first I watch and thing, "Man, what a pointless gesture". Then I ran into the Antarans, totally unprepared and had my collective anus handed to me on a silver platter. By two frigates.

Dawn of War as well. They should make a movie-length battle in the same style. No story, next to no dialog, just 100 minutes of brutal human/alien slaughter and violence. Or maybe 10 10 minute battles, each with two different sides. Except for Eldar, because they suck.

I really liked the intro to Deus Ex, i know its not the best in the world, and probably could be improved, but it created a great start to the game. I kicked myself watching it the second time for not noticing Maggie Chow was in it.

You dare to argue with me on this one? Best one in recent memory
Awesome intro. Makes we want to play AC6 and that's what an intro should do.

Genji: Dawn of the Samurai was a pretty good intro. I liked how you have to figure out what's going on in the game either by playing it for a few hours, or if you know about the game before you start playing.

I never played Prey, but speaking of games in that vein the intro to Doom 3 was actually pretty excellent.

Back in the day, Quake 2's opening cinematic was something truly amazing as well. I guess id is good at setting a stage.

I really liked the intro for Super Metroid if anyone can remember it and Red Alert 2 has one of my favourite cinematics.

I enjoyed the intro to The Witcher- quite interesting how some guy with corpse-pale skin and white hair can completely scare off a giant monster with teeth even on its tongue...
And the intro to that other game.... I forget what it's called

From the ones already mentioned.

1) Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
2) Half Life
3) Metal Gear Solid 3

And i might add:

Rock Band - Not much, but Highway Star is awesome and it just fits
Metal Gear Solid 1 - I'm surprised no one mentioned that. Great Music, great "Spy Feeling", and one of the first to have that perfect movie-like feeling.
Sam & Max (the old one) - Funny and good introduction to the dynamic duo.
The Darkness - A bit over the top, but also very cool.
