Mortal Kombat games (at least lately) have had very impressive intro cinematics. Watching Deception, Shaolin Monks, Armageddon. Those intros were very intense. Makes me wish they created an MK movie made in all CGI.

I know I'm gonna regret this, but I actually found the live action MK movie entertaining... I think I'd rather watch it, with all it's inherent flaws, than an updated CGI flick. There, I said it.

But yeah, agreed. Those are some hardcore intros. Brutal.

Well, I'm able to find the best in everything flawed. So I must admit, I'm also a fan of the movies. But my point was that watching an intro to any of the newer MK games, when it ends, I say to myself, "I want more!" It's like, I'd almost rather watch a feature length movie with nothing but CGI fight sequences than play the game.

The Mortal Kombat: Armageddon [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62ZNww4H8E8] intro is great, an insane Royal Rumble MK style.
It's not without it's slapstick comedy, like when Shao Khan hammers Jax, Stryker sucker punches Kitana & Bo Rai Cho pukes on the steps. It reminds me of an insane version of Gladiators. My favourite part is when Liu Kang appears & takes on Shang Tsung, & gets his head twisted round & twists back around again.

The only downside is it's not long enough, I would love to see similar intros but with the fights playing out differently, or a full length CGI movie.

Say what you like about the gameplay of the Mortal Kombat series, but they have the best display of martial arts I've seen in any video game.

lol the only intro i can recall from memory right now is FF8's one since who could forget it? it had blood and sword fighting! the FF8 intro reigns supreme!

The godfathers game intro was Great.Your the son of an Ex-Corleone soldier who now runs a deli.he pays tribute to the corleones,so the Barzini's come to intimidate him.he says no,so,not only do they blow up his shop,but after he kills three with his bare hands,he's shot to death.you,his son,look on in horror,until calmed by the great Don Corleone,who promises revenge when the time is right.


Oh,and Saints Rows intro is the third best thing in the game.

I remember the classic FF6 intro (not the PS remake, the real SNES intro). That was a great and memorable scene, simple, brief, but very effective. Seeing the magiteck armor trudging towards Narshe with the epic music made it somewhat awe inspiring.

Oldschool, but Full Throttle was AWESOME back in ´95...
More recent games...well "The Witcher" anyone? A 7-minute kickass CGI animation, and to boot a very faithful adaption (literally blow-by-blow faithful) of one of the original short stories. Never again will I think of Polish animation as my childhood TV's stop-motion textile cutouts...

Marvel: Ultimate Alliance had a pretty kickass intro - Spiderman, Thor, Captain America, and Wolverine going to town on some robots. Had some funny parts too (Spiderman on Wolverine: "That guy... scares me.") And it was the first game I played on my new Xbox 360.

I remember that Mechwarrior 2 had an awesome intro for the time (whoever posted the link for the MW 3 intro, that was sweet too).

I dunno if it really counts, but I'm sure alot of you saw the trailer for Warhammer Online after Zero Punctuation this week. That was pretty awesome.

FreeSpace for me also - possibly the greatest game that I ever lost... I loved that so much sometimes it actually hurts when I want to play it now. Like previously said awesome intro - Oh my god, its the Lucifer!

Final Fantasy 8!

Had the intro on a demo disk for about 6 months before it was released and watched it so many times and I'm still not sick of it.

The setting, music, captions, visuals, perfect!
