I would have too say Into the Wild. Even though I don't watch it regularly I will always remember the first time I saw it and how amazed I was.

I must be an extremely boring person in that I don't really give much thought to movies. I enjoy them at the time, and have films I love, but when asked to think of favourites, I can't make a definitive list.

Quite a few of my most-loved have already been listed, so I'll name one I haven't seen on here yet-

Kung Pow! Enter the Fist.

My old favourite was The Boat that Rocked (or Pirate Radio or whatever it was called stateside)
which tended to be greeted with laughter from others when said out loud
but i stand by it being a brilliant film

but my new favourite after i bought the DVD recently HAS to be Scott Pilgrim vs. the world
i was expecting it to be good but largely overhyped
it was just a really fun movie to watch all round

Both Transformers movies (I think this new one will make it the ultimate trilogy)
The fact that someone on earth actually thinks that those movies will be the ultimate trilogy makes me want to cry...
Ironicly before I read this I thought to myself "Why don't I say the Transformer movies" and try as hard as I could to not laugh so loud as to not wake my sleeping siblings

At the current moment my top 10 stands like this:

1: Black Swan - Love Natalie Portman, love the completly fucked up last act. First film I've ever found myself with my mouth open in shock and awe.

2: Magnolia - Tom Cruise is good (Really), best line I've heard in a film (Respect the cock, and tame the ****.) Epic in such a small scale.

3: Trainspotting - One of the darkest comedies I've ever seen, worth it just for the opening monologue.

4: OldBoy - Violent, deranged, brilliant. The final reveal is fantastic and the only film I can think of where the villian is more tragic than the hero.

5: The Lion King - Needs no explanation. The best animated film period.

6: Martyrs - 5 minutes in, shotgun scene. That is all.

7: The Departed - One of my favourite Scorsese films, deep themes and great characters. The pivotal elevator scene is amazing.

8: Gone Baby Gone - A dark film, the conflict between what is right and what needs to be done works great here.

9: Taxi Driver - The breakdown of Travis Bickle and his redemption in the form of a child prostitute. Easily De Niro's best role.

10: 4 Months 3 Weeks 2 Days - The bleakest film ever, the stuff the two main girls go through is horrible and you have nothing but sympathy for them.

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Ghost in the Shell
Rebuild of Evangelion (Collective)
Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

Yes, 4 out of 5 are anime.

Wow, there aren't that many movies listed here that are more than 20 years old.
Here are mine:
Jaws: Such a good movie, I've literally seen it over 100 times.

Ghostbusters: Always has that particular feeling for me, I also love the general colors of the movie and the set design.

The Proposition: Bronlo's Balls this is a good cowboy movie. Could be the best Australian movie ever made.

The Seven Samurai/The Magnificent Seven: 'Nuff said. The Magnificent Seven successfully captured and expanded on the feeling of the original, while rendering in it's own uniqe style.

Dune: Love the book, love the movie, loved the director. But I'm talking about the full extended director's cut.

Blade Runner: Again, 'nuff said.

Conan: This movie is so D&D it's not even funny. IMO the best sword and sorcery fil ever made.

Hmmm, if I had to live with only one movie for the rest of my life it would probably be The Fellowship of The Ring.

If I had to recommend one movie to another person though, it would definitely be Dr. Stranglelove.
