I like the music from the first two Metroid prime games. I haven't played the last so I cant say. The Music from halo at parts is pretty awesome. My favorite has to be Mass Effect.

A couple of older soundtracks that just occured to me are the Streets of Rage ones, there was some great music in there, definitely a good set of soundtracks.

And yeah, Halo has good music, and Assassin's Creed DID have good chase music, overall I didn't think it was that great though.

Some of the music from Chrono Trigger is just great. Also music from guild wars always brought a nice ring to my ears, especially the eye of the north theme, thats just EPIC.

Silent Hill II had some of the most eerie and atmospheric music I've ever heard in a game.

While I express a dislike for it, Soul Calibur III had some nice tunes too.

What is the point of making a new thread about this subject every week? Surely it's easier to just have one thread and be done with it?

Well, I looked, and there was nothing on the first couple of pages, nor did a forum search reveal anything enlightening. Besides, people are obviously happy to post in it, so what's the problem? If you don't like it don't post in it. I guess it just depends on whether the topics fall to the wayside or not.

Also, on a side note, i love that song, Frontier Psychiatrist, and hence love your username and pic.

One theme that I really like is that song that plays when you're fighting your rival for the last time in Pokemon Red/Blue. I was literally crapping myself out of the sheer tension that it inspired. Granted, I was only about 8 at the time, but still...

Actually, I find the main Pokemon games, and the Mystery Dungeon games, have pretty good soundtracks overall. Lots of memorable music in them.

You know that song that plays between Pallet Town and Viridian City? That really, really catchy song that doesn't get out of your head once you start thinking about it?

I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight.

MGS3. Snake Eater. Nuff Said.
I agree. Harry Gregson-Williams is a very solid composer. Look for his Hollywood stuff in "The Rock" and "Chronicles of Narnia".

However, in rebuttle, I don't think they should have crossed Snake with MI6 (don't turn the game into a Bond film...nothing can duplicate a Bond film).

I have to agree 100% with this post. Some excellent music in all of those.

All of the Final Fantasy series was solid...Metal Gear Solid II was awesome...Golden Eye for N64 (I must give credit to how well they ported the Bond Themes in the game...Spy Hunter Original (hey, "Peter Gunn" was good for its time). I will not give credit to SMB simply because of the mindless repetition of the themes involved ("It was like going to home games for the Atlanta Braves, Kansas City Chiefs, Cleveland Indians, and Florida State University and having to listen to that god damn Tomohawk Chop over and over).

Anything by Jeremy Soule. Look him up, you will be shocked how many awesome games, and their soundtracks he's worked on. Hell, he was on Secret of fucking Evermore back on the SNES; one of my favorite games back then.

Funny story, around the time I was getting familiar with who Jeremy was, I booted up a rom of Secret of Evermore and before playing, just felt like hearing the very awesome atmospheric music on the intro video. I was shocked when his name showed up in the credits.
