In order of preference (Please note that some are also on consoles, but I played them on PC)

Neverwinter Nights
Mass Effect
Dawn of War: Dark Crusade
Dawn of War
Assassin's Creed
Dead Space
Dawn of War 2
Heroes of Might and Magic V ~ The ONLY TBS that I have ever liked
Star Wars: Republic Commando
Black and White 2 ~ I found killing helpless citizens morbidly fascinating...

I would tack Warhammer Online in there, but I still haven't opened the shiney collectors edition box... *Pets it.*

Total war series

Dawn of war
Warhammer online as well if i had a faster frame rate
Yeah, those are good choices, but Halo? This is about PC games really... (I KNOW IT WAS ON THE PC but it only really worked as a console shooter)

for me:
worms (the 2d ones only)
all the valve games which should really have just been PC exclusives
farcry
rollercoaster tycoon
the rts genre

I would add oblivion, fallout 3, farcry 2 etc but then while they were much better on PC they were also pretty gosh darn good on consoles.

Minesweeper.
I swear it's more intense than playing most FPSs.

Sins of a Solar Empire
Amazing RTS, epic scope, and can be played on my somewhat crappy laptop, pity more people don't play it online.

Starcraft.
I suck at it online, yet it was the first P.C game I ever beat, so it holds a special place in my heart. It would hold more of a place in my heart, but I have to build additional pylons for that to happen

World of Warcraft.
Mo' like World of "Warcrack" ha ha ha (sigh). Like Sins it has an epic scope that can be played on my laptop, glad I don't have children, or they'd be pretty hungry due to the fact I'd neglect them for W.o.W

System Shock 2 - Come one, come all! See the roots of BioShock! See the same team deliver a cyberpunk story better than they deliver a steampunk one in BioShock! See the birth of the FPS/RPG format! See some scary-ass shit that will frighten you enough to make you not want to finish the game! Guaranteed to impress and make you express more emotions than you can handle!

Or something along those lines. Seriously, though, it's amazing.

Syberia and Syberia 2 - A point-and-click adventure game like no other. It's pretty standard in it's delivery, but what really sets it apart is the artwork that the game uses. It's one of the most beautiful games that I've seen, and it's more than a few years old. It's a very artistic series, and though the story isn't the best, it's more than compelling enough to keep you entertained. If you're into that sort of thing, of course.

Crysis - If your computer can handle it, it's definitely worth a try. Yeah, the story isn't anything that hasn't been done a million times before, but the combat system is pretty interesting, the graphics are amazing, and it was entertaining enough for me to enjoy thoroughly.

F.E.A.R. - The original, not the sequel. I had so much fun with this game, I cannot even express it fully. A bunch of my friends and I sat down and they all watched while I played through the game from start to finish in one sitting. There were so many jumps, screams, laughs and just overall enjoyment that it has left a lasting memory on my mind as a great game. Give it a shot in the dark, if you can stand it.

On The Rain-Slick Precipice Of Darkness, Episode One and Episode Two - Penny Arcade Presents! It's a tongue-in-cheek poke at all the turn-based JRPG games with an entertaining story and that same awesome humor that the Penny Arcade guys are known best for. Definitely worth a look, especially at only $10, or however much it goes for.

Sins of a Solar Empire - Intergalactic RTS on a truly intergalactic scale. I haven't seen a game that manages to accomplish this scale and feeling of grandeur any better than Sins. You actually feel like you are commanding a complete armada of ships, that you are a commander of an entire race of people, and not just a bunch of units on the screen. So incredible.

Demigod - An action RPG/RTS/thing that transcends a million formats. Give it a shot, it's definitely worth a try, if only to see where gaming is going these days. It's a very interesting (and entertaining) type of experience that can't really be explained.

Max Payne and Max Payne 2 - The birth of the modern third-person shooter as we know it. Also, the first implementation of "Bullet Time" in a game. It definitely defined the third-person shooter format, and it's a horribly entertaining time by itself. Plus, it's delivered in a film-noir, comic-book sort of style, which really sells it for me. The sequel is just as good, and continues the film noir style to a T. Definitely worth playing.

I could list more, but that should give you a good start. Give them a shot, let me know if you want more recommendations.

One could argue it truly belongs on the computer too, its a matter of opinion really.
I think consoles better but i only got halo for pc, and frankly i thought it worked much better on computer than on the xbox console, fucking controller

lol, who doesn't hate the xbox controller? Mind you, it does have a secondary use as a coffee table.

World of goo FTW!!!

On Topic:

Doom 3
Quake 4 (both of these are on the Xbox too, but they are also the most linear games I have ever played)
For some reason I can't think of any others right now.

Huh? FPSes were first on the PC? So they kinda were designed for the PC. Not to mention turning with a mouse is 60 times easier than turning with joystick.

But hey what ever floats your boat?

Surely you are kidding?

That said: WC3, StarCraft, Diablo II (most of Blizz' games really), AoE 2, Fallout series.
Oh and X-Wing vs. Tie-Fighter and Battlefront 2.

Nothing rare unexpected or indie in my list.

Needless to say Half Life 2.
Fallout 2 having to pick between 1 2 and 3 was tricky but 2 edged it.
C&C Red Alert the original one, I know build lots and zerg but still was good fun and stole a lot of time from me.
Unreal Tournament Classic, good memories of facing worlds and sniper rifles.
Warcraft 3, mostly for the multiplayer that consumed so much time of mine.
