A question for all you theatrical people on The Escapist;

What is your favourite play, which you've seen or read?

For me, it would be Lion King which I went to go see in London last year. It was amazing, and I'm going again for my birthday to see Wicked.

I thought I'd ask, as I'm performing Snow White tomorrow, and just wanted to know if anyone on here shares my love of the stage.

Fiddler on the Roof, Jesus Christ Superstar. Love em'.

Oh and this, a parody of Fiddler on the Roof: From A Shoggoth on the Roof - TENTACLES! [http://pl.youtube.com/watch?v=P2csnVNai-o]

As for the wordy stuff, hmm, not really fond overmuch, although, I guess I'll say a dislike Hamlet the least hehe ^^'.

What an unusual topic. Well played sir.
Personally my vote would probably also go for Macbeth, it is the definition of a classic as long as it is a good performance. I would also rate, Caucasian Chalk Circle, particularly interesting for its politcal criticism. Also Samuel Beckett is always good, especially his short performance pieces.
One I have never seen performed is Salome by Oscsr Wilde. It's certainly an interestign text and it would be fascinating to see it performed.

Jesus Christ Superstar was fun.
Meredith Wilson's The Music Man, The H.M.S. Pinafore, Fiddler on the Roof and the Merchant of Venice.

Macbeth - plenty of death, madness and evil.
Shakespeare is pretty awesome IMO. But my favourite is probably Hamlet. Even though he is very whiny at times, I still enjoyed it more than Macbeth, and waaay more than Romeo and Juliet.

Nice. I thought from the title of the thread that this would be the theme. Oh how less of an intellectual I feel right now.

Samuel Beckett's Waiting for Godot and Tony Kushner's Angels In America are a pretty close tie for me.

Phantom of the Opera is hands down one of the best plays ever in my opinion.
Fiddler on the Roof is also very high on my list.

I liked "Blood Brothers" but personally I ADORE "Joseph and his amazing technicolour dreamcoat" i've been in several theatre productions of it in the choir and the show has welded itself to my mind. Also the play "Frozen dusk" isn't bad.
EDIT: i've just realised admitting to liking joseph is probably not something I should have dont but what the hell why not it's religeous but rediculously upbeat so it's great.
