The greatest thing about the UK? We sum up western society today, in that we have such a profound impact upon it, yet are completely irrelevant. Its part of our humour, our culture, our basic way of life.

I suppose that even if you are getting the shit kicked out of you, both you and the attackers will somehow crack a joke out of it later. Most of us don't let life get us down because we start life half mad anyway.

EDIT: Complaining. Honestly, most other countries don't get it and its a god send to bump into someone from the UK abroad, just because you can have a good old natter about how shit everything is in our quintessential half taking the piss manner.

Our comedy and sense of humour, our history, our armed forces, our film industry, our hearty food, our beautiful countryside... there really is a lot I like about the country, a lot of it has to do with our mentality as a people, with our 'stiff upper lips' and ability to joke about ourselves to no end.

I think Bill Bailey does well summing it up.

Err apparently england=uk. hmm.
Anyway i dont like the uk as a country. Cornwall is ok and northern ireland can be good but apart from that we just have weird stereotypes and a history. We're not even the best in the commonwealth and thats something, well 'team GB' isn't the best in the commonwealth.

EDIT: Yahtzee's from England so i guess that makes us pretty awesome actually.

For me it's Science Fiction:

2000 AD
Sapphire and Steel
Big Finish Productions
And of course, the good Doctor (Who)

As American, I find it odd that most of my favorite heroes are British: the top two being the Doctor and Sherlock Holmes

Tea anybody?
Only if you're adding cow juice and serving it alongside a platter of angel cakes and some cucumber and cress sandwiches.

I like the countryside in England. There are few things more pleasant that being out in the rolling fields and woodland on a warm summer evening.

Cycling!

The UK does mountain biking in a way that no one else in the world does, it never gets old to hear people from the alps proclaim the UK to have no riding, the introduce them to Norh Yorkshire...

Also, we make Fish and Chips.
Haha, I live in North Yorkshire now and I'm going to be fixing up my bike over summer, so when I come back here to university next year I can try that out, thanks :)

As a Brit I'm pretty patriotic but that's because of all the quintessential things that are British, like pubs (fine, Australia and NZ have them too, but they were originally British :D), fish and chips, Simon Cowell and Welsh classical singers :D. I still hate our government though.

I have never been to the UK, so I couldn't tell you. I guess I'd have to say Monty Python. Can't think of too much else. Maybe Newcastle beer, but it's expensive as hell here, so that's only good when someone else is buying.

If anyone is willing to send my a plane ticket, I'd be happy to look for other things that I like about the UK. :)

(Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams FTW!) and musicians (we invented METAL!) but I'm really disappointed no one has mentioned Blackadder.
Pratchett is far and away my favourite author ever =D
And i have to add the classic that is Monty Python, it comes next to Blackadder in my favourite comedies along with Fawlty Towers.

I also love the British concept of sarcasm, it's hard to find it understood to quite such a degree in other countries.
Apart from America of course.
