I'm going to pick a top three if you don't mind. Unicron, the original Megatron, and Beast Wars Megatron. So awesome...

Blaster was definitely my favorite. (Him vs. Soundwave was always cool.)
Perceptor was great because he was kind of nerdy too.
And Jazz from the original movie was awesome (not live action ghettofied Jazz)

Starscream and Grimlock. They both have a love for their people, but also have lust for power so great that they would kill their own leaders just to obtain it! They're like the Iagos of Transformers.

Dinobot *-*
Still my favorite, I still get teary-eyed after Code of Hero.
I do so love the heroic warrior types.

Either Megatron or Dinobot. They were both pretty godd character-wise. I just can't decide either the magnificent bastard or the "samurai" hero.

So much this.

Three reasons:
1. Heroic 1 vs. all death
2. Epic voice (Unless I'm very much mistaken, they got him to do the voice of one of the Chaos guys in Dawn of War)
3. He beat up Megatron WITH A STICK!

#2, That is correct. Scott McNeil is my favorite VA... who also did the voice of Rattrap, Silverbolt and Waspinator. Also, Dinobot is totally RAPTOR JESUS.
He died so that the humans might live and he CAME BACK FROM THE DEAD (well.. sorta)

1. Optimus Prime (as both a Firetruck and a Gorilla in Beast Wars).
2. Ironhide as a Rhino in Beast Wars.
3. That one in Beast Wars who transformed into a Wolf-Gryphon.

Somebody liked Silverbolt? Not that there's nothing wrong with that it just surprises me.
I also liked Soundwave he was pretty damned cool. He even did a cameo in Beast Wars even if he was in a coma.

My favourite transformer is Dinobot from Beast Wars. Because:
? He was a unique character in the transformers mythos, in that he was not a clear cut heroic or villainous character, and he switched sides more than once.
? He lived by a strict code of honour that he never deviated from.
? Despite not necessarily being a good person, he was still capable of doing the right thing and saving humanity when his time came.
? He was constantly seeking, as are many, to be the master of his own fate.
? He was an immensely skilled warrior, perhaps the most skilled of all participants in the Beast Wars. For example, in his final episode, he bested every single Predacon in order to defend the proto-human valley and the very existence of his Maximal comrades.
? He represented many a fascinating moral enigma. An example being: He did not leave the Predacons by choice, he was expelled. Believing Megatron had led him and the rest of the Predacons of a wild Petrorabbit chase, he challenged Megatron to a duel for leadership of the Predacons. (Which I suspect Megatron only won because he resorted to a cowardly tactic.) After some deliberation, he then joined the Maximals. After many adventures and a brief return to the Predacons, he sacrificed himself to save the future of humanity and was honoured by his fellow maximals. His heroic side was only allowed to grow because of his circumstances. What if another Predacon had been expelled, say, Scorponok? Would he have joined the Maximals, would he have become a hero, like Dinobot? What if one of the Maximals, say, Rattrap had been raised as a Predacon. Would he have become a villainous scoundrel? Or would he have defected too? The classic nature vs. Nurture argument. In truth I believe it is a little of both. While Dinobot was an inherently honourable individual regardless of faction, Tarantulas would have been a scheming lecherous tyrant no matter his allegiance, and would have likely defected to the side that would allow him to perform his sadistic experiments.
? And, last but not least, he transformed into a freakin? Raptor. A Jurassic Park style featherless raptor, but still, he was awesome.

"He lived a warrior... and died a hero. Let his spark join the Matrix, the greatest of Cybertron." ? Optimus Primal
