Say you are tasked with destroying the one ring. You are no more powerful then you are right now, but you are allowed to take eight video game characters with you, as long as they weren't originally part of the Fellowship. However, they aren't your loyal slaves. You will have to deal with them and all their personal baggage

You can have four normal warriors(People on the power level of, say Garelt, from The Witcher)

One magic enhanced character(People who could be considered super humans. Kratos, for example)

And three allies without combat training(Like healers, or craftsmen)

The characters will only have access to technology available in medieval renaissance times, so characters skilled with fire arms will not be at an automatic advantage. There were guns, but they were primitive and often unreliable

Let's try to avoid choosing characters who are virtually immortal

P.S: Cheats don't count, so Niko Belic can't spawn helicopters with his phone

Then Kratos is all you'd need really. Just let the guy go berserk and do it for you. As long as you stand clear it should go all right.

Also, Commander Shepard, just in case. He seems to know how to handle suicide missions.

Kratos is a psycho. He's just as likely to kill you if he sees it as beneficial. I would take the following:

Link, as he can always get out of a grind. (warrior)

A Big Daddy with some plasmids. (superhuman)

Ryu Hyabusa (warrior)

And finally, Snake, who not only has extensive field training but could help coordinate the mission.

That's really all I can think of, but why don't you list your team sumanoskae?

1.The Black knight from fire emblem because he's not in his world now so i'll be the only person he knows, he had no problem being loyal to king ashnard so why not me, he's 2nd in command, better than he had before.

2. Sopitia from soul calibur, cause she's got some greek god looking out for her, just incase the black knight betrays me, and also because i find her fighting style the best.

I have run out of games with people who could actually be useful i think, i'd probabally have to say just mindless minioins who will do whatever i say, someone's bound to die, might as well have a good amount of meat shields.

Warriors

Jack of blades - Fable
Red XIII - FF7 (cant have any sort of fantasy adventure without an anthromorphization)
Grahf - Xenogears - (Need a master psychologist around)
Shale - Dragon Age - the stone prisoner

Mage: Lulu - FFX (Gandolph didnt do much magic for the original fellowship, so its not like you need alot. Plus Lulu is just plain awesome.. cept her affection for wakka which is incomprehensible)

Mooks:
Kefka: FF3US - nothing livens up a party like batshit crazy
Conker: Conkers bad fur day - who couldnt use a cuddly furry animal with a mouth like a sailor, plus every party needs zippy one liners.
James Earl Cash - manhunt ( even though hes in a bad game, he knows how to get it done with next to nothing)

Now, with assembling my team.. I would betray the notion of destroying the ring, Keep it for myself, and use my fellowship to defend me from the pathetic bastions of good. Right after I use them to put down the Witch-king of Angmar

Then I shall wash the unfit races from the face of middle earth and proceed to rebuild it at my own whim.

Warriors:
1. Link - Cause he's like, MADE for this job. Also, FIRE TUNIC
2. Boba Fett - Sure, no blasters, but all that armor and plus the skills? :D
3. Lu Bu, from Dynasty Warriors - Cause he kills thousands of people. What else is there to say?
4. Coach, from L4D2 - Cause he's killed more zombies with a baseball bat than orcs that died in all versions of the Lord of the Rings. Cumulatively.

Magic Dude:
Vivec, from Morrowind - Cause I dunno, he would kick some serious ass and be all wise doing it? Living Gods do that.

Non-combat allies:
1. Indiana Jones - Cause he's a resourceful fellow (dungeons!), and dynamite with a whip.
2. Lara Croft - To complement (and make out with) Indiana.
3. Chell, from Portal - This is cheating, but use the Portal Device to get to Mordor! (one does not simply shoot a portal into Mordor!) Otherwise, she can fall any distance and not get hurt, so that's a plus.

2) Subutai (most sucessful general in all of human history)
3) Zelda (Legend of Zelda)
4) Samus Aran (Metroid), and I don't care if she doesn't have her space weapons

One magic enhanced character(People who could be considered super humans. Kratos, for example)
5) Lucifer, the Light Bearer, Morning Star, Fallen One

And three allies without combat training(Like healers, or craftsmen)
6) Princess Peach (Super Mario)
7) Nicola Tesla (modern da Vinci in many ways)

EDIT: I know they aren't all from video games, but those have at least been mentioned in games I'm sure.

TMNT,
Alex Mercer,
Three of my friends

TMNT are pretty good fighters, and if you have one, you may as well take all of them (Because they tend to complement eachover's fighting style)
Alex Mercer is "one of the most powerful video game characters ever created."-Tim Bennison
My friends are there for morale. Just as important as fighting skills. One of them has advanced medical training, and she'd definitely want to help.

4) Boba Fett. 'Cause he has a jet pack.

5) Yeah, I'm going with Kratos

And three allies without combat training (Like healers, or craftsmen)
6) Some hot chick
7) The red shirt guy
8) Captain Hammer. (Yes, I know that technically he's never been in a video game, but I think that the 8-bit Doctor Horrible counts. It was only slightly less interactive than Metal Gear Solid 4 anyway. And also, he hasn't had training. He's just naturally like that.

And with me, (Batman) we could never fail!

No offense, but wasn't JoB a bit pathetic? I beat him in like 30 seconds.
