Well, I was in the Army and was qualified to use a variety of weapon systems. In games I tend to prefer rifles and machine guns (or flamethrowers, if present). In every day life I fence, so I suppose I could probably kill most people I meet in a sword duel but those don't happen often these days (thus why most people would suck at them).

On the occasion's I've been in an honest to god fist fight, I tend to favor getting in very close and going for soft spots (groin, neck etc). I'm a pretty small guy so I generally feel completely justified punching someone in the neck. Plus, up close it's harder for bigger guys to leverage their mass and strength. My fights rarely went well though - generally speaking I'd end up looking like hell-on-toast when someone breaks the things up. On the other side of things I've never had to fight someone twice, for what that's worth.

Aside from Filipino Kali (which includes single, double, and espada y daga), what I'm taught involves the basics of Buka Jalan Pentjak Silat, along with JKD. I'm more or less built for upper body strength, and I usually wouldn't try to make the first move, I'd say it's always a nice idea to wear them down and then do what you can, but for that you'd usually have to be the one controlling the distance.

I've learned a few martial arts although I wouldn't say that I use any of them in fights (not that I've been in that many fights), so mix the concepts of 'brute force' and 'punch up' together and you should have a vivid enough image in your head.

Failing that...nuke the bastards.

I generally tend to shoot things until they stop moving. In the case of creatures that no amount of filling it with lead or other assorted projectiles will prevent the movement of, I generally

Eye Jab -> Crotch(toe-pick or punch/strike) -> beat the tar out of them.

You can NEVER go wrong with the eye/throat/crotch combination. All three don't require power so much as speed, and the kick can close distance which leads to only more goodness once elbows and headbutts start flying.

I have training with short-weapons, but my general rule of thumb is too skeedaddle whenever things start to look too much like one of those action flicks I enjoy watching.

If that does happen however, I employ my ultimate technique of distraction and evasion: Poor College Student Throws Wallet at Thug, that Thugmay Learn of Its Emptiness After the Fact.

Works like a charm. ;)

taking on an alleyway full of gangbangers with nothing but a paper plate and staple gun. With one staple.
i'm not sure you know what the term gangbang(er) really means.

Also i'm the kind of guy who can catch punches, kicks and kind of like counter them( Be it a sweep or a hard punch in the ribs...the counter i mean)

'Don't throw the first punch, but feel free to cause as much agony on them as they are willing to inflict on you' style- martial arts have taught me well.

CQC, anyone, anyone, anyone, anyone? *draws lines on board*

I'll kiss you if you figure out that reference. Through the internet... somehow.
Seriously though, I throw cardboard boxes at people box. In real life it's a rather shit way of defending yourself in case of a mugging. In real life throwing a jab at someone and then backing off won't work too well. Wouldn't it be much more effective to kick them in the balls, or shank them?

If there's more of you than them, fight. If there's more of them than you, run.

I didn't say it, Sun Tzu said it.

Well, I'm very passive and waiting. Then unleash an array of quick but hard-hitting punches.
I boxed for a while, so that really affected the way I fight.

~ And yes, I'm in a fight club :))))
You NEVER talk about Fight Club!!!
However that may be the case, our fight club is heavily influenced from the movie; It's the same really, except with some protection gear, to keep you from major injuries.
I'm confused as to why you're still talking about Fight Club. The first rule of Fight Club, is that you do not talk about Fight Club. The second rule of fight club, is you DO NOT talk about Fight Club!
Could I interest you in a cup of Shut-up? Perhaps a bowl of Shut-it? Or a Shutty sandwich? Or are you more of a Leave-Please cake type of person?
