Mine would have to be Pokemon Colosseum when I was 10... or 9. Either one.

I did it so I could get a Jirachi! XD

Kingdom Hearts II.

I searched far and wide for a sequel, I'd waited for so long, then when I finally heard of its arrival in the UK, I couldn't possibly go a day longer without my copy. I'm a shameless fanboy.

I had to have the "gold" cartridge.

I think it was Gears of War 2.
I had picked up the first one earlier that year for next to nothing, and fell in gaming love with the stop and pop cover system awesomeness.
I pretty much immediately then pre-ordered it's sequel.
By the way, what's with all the "pre-order" threads as of late?

Bioshock 2, because it was £10 cheaper than it would be when released and it came with the first for free. (Yay Steam!).

The first was nowhere near what I was expecting, and the second was far better but not amazing. Good, certainly.

I've never pre-orderd a game in my life.

I think pre-ordering is only necessary in countries like America or Japan where there are still actual lines infront of gameshops. I don't think I've ever seen a line infront of a gameshop in Holland.

If you pre-order from GAME in the UK, you get the game the day before release or earlier.

I believe it was Pokemon Blue from Electronics Boutique waaaaaay back in the day. I was young, and there was a lot of buzz about it so I got my mum to pre-order it for me for a birthday. It was totally worth it.

The first thing I preordered was my Gamecube (With Luigi's mansion, Crazy Taxi and Extreme G III) from Toy's R Us.. well I say I ordered it, I was taken there by my dad and he said to tell the gentleman at the till what I wanted.

If that doesn't count then it'd have to be Legend of Zelda: Windwaker... my local independent game shop released the game 3 days before the release date...

I've no idea, I don't really do pre-order as a rule but occasionally I might if i've sure of what i'm getting. The last game i pre-orderd was Monkey Island 2 special edition, the pre-order was in the steam sale.

Dutchy here too, and I agree with you. Pre-orders are not ever necessary here, and if you buy a game a month later it's usually cheaper as well.

But I admit I pre-ordered once. My first pre-ordered game is Starcraft 2: Collectors Edition. I was just to frightened it would sell out.

I actually think it was Mass Effect 2. It was going to be Bioshock 2, but I went over my budget that month.
