Hee, I used to spend hours playing the Lion King on the SNES. I was never very good at it. But Pokemon was the first game I really played seriously. And Mario Kart. That too. :p

My first game ever was Battle Toads on the SNES. What a fucking great game. Hmm, I might have to look for my SNES when I get home now,
Anway, I dont remember what game got me into gaming, Ive just always been a gamer. Even in primary school, when I was 7, I was the kid who played video games and was the nerdy kid (I loved Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings etc). It just kept up since then.

My first ever was the compilation tape I had for the original Apple entertainment system, which had a Space Invader/Asteroids style game, or a game about boxers climbing ladders and dropping plants. Graphics were mind-blowing black and white 2D pixels. The game I first played seriously would be Commander Keene, with his pogo stick, broken spaceship and wacky laser action. But the game that first had me playing for hours on end, hooked like a crack-enthusiast, was Mario Kart on N64. Sure I'd played NES, SNES, Saturn, Game Gear, Mega Drive and various insane or brilliant PC games, but nothing came close to booting that beauty up in our lounge for the first time. Good times...

1978-1980. there was a simple artillery game on our school's Commodore 64s: elevation, range, fire - kapow! (you had to supply the kapow).

first "console" was a Coleco brown box hooked to the TV antenna with 4 black & white Pong-type games. 1976 or 1977?

first "pc" game was on a Kaypro II (pre-Dos!), a Donkey Kong-style ladder-climber but made entirely with keyboard characters. It also had a galactic trader simulator that was addictive. 1982-1984.

first real PC games were all 5 1/4" floppies, on a 286 with CGA or EGA graphics: the original Civilization, Apache, Sid Meir's Pirates, the first SimCity. 1989. Doom creeped the hell out of me.

first RPG was the Soulbringer/Planescape: Torment double box from the clearance bin. Best $15 I ever spent on gaming, ever.

My dad got me into all those old awesome shooters (which my mom was none too pleased about) like Quake, Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, etc. We also used to play Sonic together all the time. Then we got an N64, then a PS1, then a PS2, then an Xbox, and finally a 360.

So yeah, basically my dad got me into gaming.
