My parents had an MS-DOS so that was my first gaming experience. Wow that was years ago.
Then came Sonic in the SEGA Mega Drive

EDIT: I just looked up some old MS-DOS games I had. I had the original Duke Nukem, Commander Keen and Jill of the Jungle. Wow.

Duck Hunt was pretty fun, just a shame you couldn't shoot the damn dog. still, Super Mario Bros remained the shit until Super Mario Bros 3

alex kid in miracle world on the sega master console; I really loved that system, but the games simply weren't up to par with nintendo by the time mario 3 came out. Still, though, I will never forget those 3D glasses that it came with: twenty-odd years ahead of its time.

My *very* first game...? Chuckie Egg [http://www.repton3.co.uk/chuckieegg.aspx] on the Sony MSX [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MSX]. I was extremely young at the time, obviously! (I don't even remember when my dad bought that computer.)

First game I bought for myself? SimCity 2000, I believe... Then Inca... Then Baldur's Gate. Each a few years apart! Once I'd played BG, I started buying games with more regularity, and even DMing tabletop D&D.
