Bulbasaur in Pokemon Red. I quickly realized I made a mistake a restarted with Charmander though. Come to think of it... I always started with Charmander in the first 2 games.

I also had Blue, Yellow, Gold and Ruby Red.
I have thought about getting a Nintendo DS to get to play the new ones

Anyone who says they're first was something other than Squirtle, Bulbasaur, or Charmadner can't call them selves pokemon masters. You're only a bunch of Ash Ketchums, forever wandering nowhere for no reason.

I didn't know each pokemon was a certain starting difficulty I just went well dude...this guy has a PLANT on his back. Rad. You win.

I've played pokemon blue since with Charmander also.
Squirtle just kinda comes off as the middle child, and a little boring.

Charmander was my 1st starter, though when I went for my 2nd playthrough I chose Squirtle. I've always preferred Blastoise to Charizard...

My 1st catch... ugh, Rattata... I raised the bugger too. Got a damn powerful Raticate.
