First one I ever played was my cousins silver but the first one I owned was Leaf Green when I was 6. Now I've played at least 1 game from every gen.

I started with Blue and adored my Squirtle! Gold was a headf*ck but I managed.
What was wrong with Gold? Was it too big or something? I personally like the Gold and Silver and their remake counterparts the most because there is so much to do compared to the other games.

I finally beat the second go-round with the Elite Four in Heart Gold with my team that consists of:

Typhlosion
Golduck
Butterfree
Exeggutor
Noctowl
Dragonite

They are around levels 65 and 66 at the moment, I need to do some level grinding to get them up to the needed level for the final battle with Red.
If you manage your potions and revives correctly you could do it right now. I managed to beat him when only 2 of my pokémon were above sixty and the rest between 50-57
That's good to know. Though I was aggravated when I ended up having to use my last max revive when facing Lance's second team. The only reason I got through that was because I was fast enough and he missed enough that I was able to keep his team asleep, and my Butterfree has Flash and I used it so much on his Dragonite that it couldn't hit a broad side of a barn. Then my Dragonite was able to take the rest of the Dragon types with Outrage in one hit each.

I got pokemon blue for the Christmas that the game-boy colour came out, because blue is so much cooler than red

I got Pokemon Blue, and ended up using Blastoise because I thought that if you had Blue version you HAD to use the water type...
That is awesome. Ever since Gold and Silver, the ones on the cover are the Legendaries. So, if what you said was actually the case, people would end up having to start out with the cover Legendary of the version they have.

Red and Blue- Best gaming day of my life I think.

I got Yellow on American release date since I was on a trip with my parents.

Then I got Silver.

Only bought FireRed a few years later, one year after release too. Bought Platinum on Release date, and bought Heartgold a few months ago.

Will buy Pokemon Black by Release Date.

Pokemon: My On and Off relationship.

Yellow was my first. I like how Pikachu fallowed behind you. After I got Gold, this one was one of my favorites because you could go to Kanto after you beat Johto and you could fight Ash but I think you could do that in Silver and Cristal. Then I got Ruby it was ok. After that Leaf Green I liked that one because it returned to Kanto. Then Platinum I never finished that one I got bored and no longer liked Pokémon I grew out of it. If they did make a game where you could go to every region I would buy that but it would probably come out for the 3DS and I do not plan to buy that.

The first one I got was red version, when it original came out. I was just a kid and I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Also when I got, my mom put my in a draw where I won a Tommy Hilfiger sponsored Game Boy. That game forever changed my life.

No one I knew had a gameboy when Red/Blue/Yellow came out, so Silver was my first, and after completing that I bought Red(Which I later traded for yellow). Since then I've atleast played one pokemon game from each new generation.

Red was the first pokemon game I got. I was about the 3rd kid in my primary school to get a pokemon game, and I think the two people before me got red as well, lol. Didn't help much with the trading and collecting. Silver was the last one I played seriously. I actually managed to get all 251 pokemon... With a little, little bit of help from a friend's game genie (Mew and Celebi).

Pokemon Snap--that game was awesome.

I never really played the GB Pokemon games, but I played a bit of Red once on my friend's Gameboy. All I can remember is that I encountered my rival, named ???, and when it asked me to name him, I typed in ??? because I thought it was a trivia question.

My very first pokemon game was pokemon yellow version. I have no clue how i got it all i remember was my older brother passing me the huge gameboy and me loving the game straight away. I think played Red version and got all 151 pokemon because my friend had blue version.
I went to silver and crystal and then i went to sapphire and sadly thats where i stopped.

my first pokemon game was the first three, Red and Blue; HOWEVER, i got the special edition gameboy color with the yellow game, it was a christmas present from my grandma back when me and her were speaking. then years later i got pokemon crystal. I moved on and i dont care for pokemon anymore so... yeah...

Pokemon Blue Version was my first Pokemon game. I got far in it, but I was never a fan.
When my father bought Pokemon Silver, though, i was hooked. It is still one of my favorite games of all time and second gen was easily my favorite Pokemon generation
