Morrowind, was superb for its time. I loved the freedom and flexibility it offered, I'd never played anything like it.

Legend Of Legaia (ps1) I loved it so much at the time. Although it would probably kill me to play it now. It's a jrpg and at the time random battles worked but not so much anymore. Now I prefer westren rpgs much more. I still love the game but I have just out grown it.

JRPGs have long left random battles behind. For the most part, at least. The odd random battle game still pops up on occasion.

Pokemon blue bitches! Yeeeeeah, a propa RPG not these little baby FF's or Elder Scrolls, play a real game noobs!

Yeah, my first REAL RPG after Blue and FF7 would be Morrowind, and it is still one of my fav RPG's though just got ME1 today and it is ball-busting brilliant.
What do you mean REAL? I understand it in the context of the piss easy Pokemon games, but FF7 was as much an RPG as any. FUCKING GOD DAMN ____ WEAPONS!
It was a good adventure game with RPG style leveling, but eh, I never got into it, to me, an RPG as to immerse you into its world, or its just an adventure game with leveling, also, there is no sense of roleplaying in FF's you just guide pre-set characters through a linear storyline, I prefer to customise a single character and then guide them through the story.

And don't get me bloody started on those GOD DAMN WEAPONS! Bloody emerald scaring the scrap out me.

Final Fantasy VII. I had just graduated up to PS1 from Sega Genesis and it did NOT make sense to me.
But I loved the music, so I kept it up. "circle does things, x to run, aaaand? wait, materia whaaa??"

Still one of my favorite games. mostly because of that music.

I've always thought the meaning of an RPG was leveling...But to each their own.

My first thought as soon as the first note of that soundtrack played was: 'this sounds like Hidalgo'. Or should I say: 'Hidalgo sounds like this'?

If I can think back, I guess I got into RPGs late, because the first RPG I remember playing with save points, leveling, and so forth was probably Pokemon Red and Blue.

Actually, I just remembered! The first RPG I ever played was "Rygar" for the NES. Unforunately it didn't have a save file, but was still incredibly awesome.
