Nostalgia rocks, it makes us all feel like little kids and playing the games we picked up as a kid is just awesome, so Escapists, this thread is dedicated to all of our firsts times playing games, our first consoles, and games you just remember ever so fondly.

I don't remember my first game so vividly, but I do have little chunks of awesome memories from way way back.

I remember playing competitive games for the first time at my buddy's birthday with Halo, and kicking total ass in the ghost.

I recall my first real console, the N64, and playing Tanx!, Kirby 64, and Rocket: Robot on Wheels.

I remember receiving my Gameboy from my parents.

What about you guys, any sweet(or not so sweet) memories for us?

The first game I can remember playing was Sonic 2 for the Megadrive (or Genesis to you Americans). I think I was four at the time... but I know I had a Spectrum before that. Dizzy rawks!

As far as nostalgia goes... wow, where do I start? Playing any variation of Half-Life gives me nostalgia (HL was my first PC game), as does Unreal Tournament music, as does Natural Selection, and mostly, the Zelda games make me feel young again.

I love Nintendo for keeping their same games, as much as people hate them for it. Because it reminds me of being a kid, especially the Zelda music. Except, the Zelda music is made modern, so it's like it has grown up, just like me. The remixed versions of UT music on UT3 are awesome, and they really make me feel like I'm 11 all over again.

It's a shame that nostalgia is overrated. You can never get back that original feel that you felt as a child.

The first game I could ever remember playing is a racing game for the Nintendo 64 at like 2 or 3. Soon after, Super Mario 64. My first PERSONALLY owned game was Pokemon Gold. AMAZING game. Then I got a PS1......aaah Crash Bandicoot 2....good games

My first real gaming experience was with the original NES system, and the game Super Mario Bros. 3, but despite this experience, I am purely a newschool gamer (as opposed to an oldschool gamer like most of my friends), having skipped practically everything between the NES and the Gamecube, then the XBox, PS2, XBox 360, and so forth.

Even more so, now that some guys recoded it to work on your fancy schmancy new machine [http://sc2.sourceforge.net].

I remember my first games were LoZ: Ocarina of Time and Banjo Kazooie. Those games were awesome, and LoZ music always brings back some great memories.

Hilariously enough, my first game was Boogerman for the SNES. Yes, you could kill people by farting on them. Nuff' said.

something on our old mac i guess.. either Doom or F/A 18 Hornet (the greatest combat flight sim EVER!) I remember my dad used to bring home a computer from work every now and then and used to play games on it.. then i think we got the mac for xmas '96 so i would have been 5 at the time. I cant believe mum let me play doom then lol. At some point we got Doom II which I finished on many occasions and not long after that was Science Blaster Jr and Riven (Myst 2) must have been 7 when i finished that.. A feat that is near impossible for me to repeat now lol. First PS game I played was some Mortal Kombat game in '98 and got my first PSone in 2000 with Spyro: Year of the Dragon

bah.

Children.

Try Pong on the Atari 2600 in the first year the console was released.

I have fond memories of finding the easter egg (aka the secret area) in Adventure and the groovy music in Pitfall II. And Q-bert...
