Tamagotchi if it counts.

Other than that I played Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage on the Sega Genisis.

One of two games come to mind:

1) Exterminator [http://www.lemon64.com/?mainurl=http://www.lemon64.com/reviews/view.php%3Fid%3D788] for the Commodore 64

2) This I'm not too sure on, but from memory, it had you play as a pirate looking for treasure in a randomly generated maze. It had a top down view, the maze was kinda set in a jungle or something, and was on the Commodore 64.

Heresy! We must all bow down to the cuteness that is Charmander.
Squirrels>Lizards>Weird leafy things
Nooooooo, you have to choose charmander as he evolves into a badass dragon eventually. You simply use a Butterfree or Mankey to take down Brock.

Also, Pickachu > Charmander, Squirtle and Bulbasaur... =P

and on topic, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was my first game as far as I can remember.

No no no, you choose Squirtle or Bulbasaur first, because then you can easily beat Brock.

Squirtle is a turtle...

He's mainly squirrel to me. T^T

I thought the Squir- part of his name was a play on words to imply that he was a turtle that squirts water...

And I also figured that his tail was just a representation of like waves or something.

I was three and a Mexican place that was close to us had the Pac-Man arcade game. Since I was only three, my parents would never give me more that two quarters, and I never got passed the first stage, but it kicked off my favorite way of escapism.

It was called "Gorilla Gorilla" it was a game with two gorilla's on two oposite skyscappers and they threw banna's at each other. The banna's were explosive you could blow building apart.

This is like... 16 or 17 years ago?

I played it on my dads knee.

Mine was Donkey Kong Country on the SNES.

I don't know whether it was because it was my first, or because it was generally a very good game, but I still love it. Especially the music. :D

I was about six though and I had to get my dad to help me out with the some of the barrel levels. I found out years later that he had to stay up all night just to do one of the barrel levels set in the tundra. Given that time, I'm sure my six year old self would have managed to do it through chance alone! :D

Damn having a set bed time!

It was the Duck hunt/Super Mario combo cartridge for NES. I played Duck hunt first and tried to cheat by pressing the big orange gun up against the TV screen.

"Adventure" text game. On an Apple ][. In 1977.

Still has one of my all time favorite bits...

Player: "KILL DRAGON"

Computer: (giving you that typical snarky text adventure response) "With what, your bare hands?"

Player: (after much frustration trying to come up with a different idea) "YES"

Computer: "Congratulations, you have just vanquished a dragon with your bare hands!"

Player: *headdesk*
where can I find that game?

Pokemon Red, obiously the best game evarr made. Some time after, I bought Pokemon Gold, which was epic because there were colours, then I bought Pokemon Crystal, but after 150 hours (!) of playing that, it stopped working. My entire Pokemon-world fell apart and I got a Playstation 2 with Colin McRae Rally 3 and Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy.

First Game I Remember Playing: Cliffy - PC (DOS) one of those turret battle games, where two players take turns shelling each other until one of them blows up.

First Commercial Game I Played: Good ol Super Mario Bros. on the NES. I was never any good at it, though.

First Game I Bought With My Own Money: Mechwarrior 2 (PC). Great music, graphics that were way ahead of its time, and one of the best giant robot simulators ever made.
