The problem is is that I don't have one genre of music that I listen to. So unless you want me to post Adele, The Fray, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, :Wumpscut:, Portishead, Bjork, David Crowder, David Guetta, Akira Yamaoka, and others all in the same post, how about I just focus on my favorite artist?

This is the song that pushed me into searching out more Aphex Twin. The one that reminds me why he's my favorite is either Didgeridoo:

...or Windowlicker.

(Not posting the music video due to common decency. Look it up yourself, if you must watch it. Perv.)

Flogging Molly got me in to Folk rock which would eventually transition to a love for folk in general. "Drunken Lullabies" was the first song I heard form them.

This. [http://brentalfloss.bandcamp.com/track/ducktales-with-lyrics-moon-theme] It didn't really introduce me to any genre, but it really got me into web originals like Jonathan Coulton and things like that.

Let me think. I listen to a lot of music, mostly Voltaire and This Way to The Egress and Hellblinki and Pony stuff. But that is mainly because I went to a Voltaire Concert last week and less a single song. It was tits awesome. And the Pony Stuff because I got it on my iPod.
Now here will be a list of other bands and songs that got me into genres of music that I like.
I am pretty sure The Fire by Reel Big Fish got me into Ska a lot more than before. Before that I used to sometimes listen to Less Than Jake but not very often.
I know All I Want by The Offspring and 10 in 2010 by Bad Religion, (and by proxy Crazy Taxi) me into Punk Rock when I was like 10.

Foreigner's Jukebox Hero was the first song I ever heard on the radio that made me go "Damn... I really like that".

First song I ever found worthy to download off the internet and totally got me into classic rock. I didn't even like music until I heard this song, honestly.

I never used to actively listen music at all until I heard this:

I fell in love with Dream Theater. Nowadays, though, I can barely listen to them. I need to REALLY be in the mood. I almost can't even stand that song. No clue why. Weird memories, I guess. It was from when I was a drastically different person.

Still, I owe that song a lot. Nowadays, I listen to pretty much ALL music. Seriously, there isn't a single genre I can think of that I don't like at least one song in.

NOFX's 18 minute epic "The Decline" and the Dead Kennedy's "Holiday in Cambodia" got me into punk rock in the 7th grade. It must've been around '97 or '98. Then I was unlucky enough to witness all that shit getting commercialized.

I got into a lot of alt.country around 2003 or so. It was right before I graduated high school. Lucero's "Tennessee" album held a lot of sway, and the Drive-By Truckers "Southern Rock Opera" was an instant classic for me.

The Mountain goats are by far my favorite band, in addition to being the gateway to tons of other music that I love.

Whoever you are, you have my undying respect. Easily the best Mountain Goats song ever.

All Alone by the Gorillaz got me to listen to more of their stuff, which lead me to my love of electronic and rap music.

Run to the Hills. Found The Number of the Beast in a bargain bin while on vacation and never looked back.

I still miss their old cheesy music videos instead of the new ones with cgi and such.

The biggest influence for me has got to be "Fasten your Seatbelts" by Pendulum, which started a long-lasting love of both Pendulum and DnB that persists to this day. It also started my gradual transition to more intense types of music (SOAD, for example).

I would have to say Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory and Evanescence's Fallen albums since those were the first two CD's I owned. Before that I just listened to and liked the music they played on WWF wrestling so I guess that is the reason I like rock music.

Linkin Park's "In The End" got me into mainstream music.

Disturbed's "Down With The Sickness" got me into metal music.

"Unholy Warcry" got me into Rhapsody of Fire, my favourite band.

I'll be honest: the E3 trailer for The Beatles Rock Band got me into them. On 9/9/09 I had the game, by 9/10/09 The Beatles became my favorite band.
