I don't know about everyone else but when I buy games, I don't tend to keep them for more then a week with the whole trade in system being as popular as it is and pre-owned games being extremely popular, it seems to have weakened my game collection on the shelf to the few games that I actually enjoy the online on and some really long Japenese RPG games that I have yet to finish (I will probably never). This kinda saddens me when I think of a game that I really enjoyed, I can't just go to my game collection like I used to with my old Playstation games and play them for 10 minutes of so to whet my appetite of "Old School" Games, I now have to go buy it preowned and trade it back in the next day :/

Does this bother anyone else?

Yes, your habit of trading in games bothers me.

I stopped trading in games a while ago. I'd rather have my old copy of Okami than 5 dollars, thanks.

This, I once took in 20 PS2 games and got £15 for them in total, and that was when PS2 games were all the rage or whatever...I've never traded in since.

I'm trying to keep most games now... I even kept Halo Wars despite my hatred of all things R.T.S. Actually, call me a noob or whatever, but Halo Wars is my favourite R.T.S. (I.e. the only one I like)

I keep games, always have done, always will. Then when it gets to the point I've not played them for at least a year, I sell them for cash at Game or Gamestation (wherever I get more, though that's usually Game since I get double the cash price in store credit) then use whatever money I have from it towards the newer releases. That way, I actually save money and still maintain a sizeable gaming collection at all times. Obviously, the really good games I never bother to sell, since they're the sort of game (like Halo or Dawn of War) that I really enjoy and still play repeatedly even though I can recite entire speeches and dialogue from memory and know every trick in the game...

Like StarStruckStrumpets I've not traded in since PS2 games were in because you get nothing for a load of games which cost you about £30 each and they get sold for a tenner. I also know at one point I'll regret it and want to play it.

I've not brought a new game since...maybe this time last year mostly because very rarely will I find a game I'm willing to buy for full price as soon as it comes out and when I do my boyfriend catches on and buys it for me. :D

How about fool?

Anyway don't trade in games you will always regret it unless it is a game you don't like. Every now and then I get the urge to play the dreamcast or megadrive.

I trade in sports sequels for the new updates, but that's about it, never know when a game will take your fancy again.

Ow. Burned.

And no, I don't trade games because each and every game owned by me is special in its own way and to sell, swap or give it away would be like betraying the game.

About half the gamesI own are pokemon games, and I still use them, so I've had them for a while.

Actually, I usually go on a gaming binge every now and then. I'll pick a gam, and try to get everything, then stop when I actually have to work again. For example, over spring break, I got every pokemon in the regional pokedex. Not just seen, or had, they are all in my PC right now. I beat FFI AFTER going to all the elemental shrines, (last boss was kind of easy at that point) Beat FFII extra while starting off with no weapons, Collecting one of everything in FFVI, and so on.

So, no, I never really have that problem.

I never traded in a game before, for the simple reason that there are no specialised game shops around here to trade in games. I still have the very first game I ever got 10 years ago, Rollercoaster Tycoon and every game I ever bought (not counting accidents and the likes). It's nice, it shows my gaming history, what phases I went through. It's starting to take up some space though, all those Gamecube/360/PC games.

I'm a game trading addict or well ...i'm in rehab

ive stopped but i've pre-ordered Star Ocean: The Last Hope and it comes out (In Britian) In 5 days! I've got no money so im looking at my collection and valuing them in my head, (i've traded for so long i've gotten pritty good at it and only been wrong twice)and I have enough for it ... but I don't want my collection to be dwindled again after I just started building it back up :(

See I just trade in all games I no longer play, usually in Gamestation, with 360 games and usually I don't get skanked for what im giving them. But I do miss having a big collection of games to choose from.

As my avatar suggests, most of my purchases are made through steam at this point, and the only current-gen (if you can call it that) system I have is the wii.

Given nintendo's current track record for shoveling drek onto their system, I'm not in the habit of actually buying ANY games for the console. I have my Twilight princess, Prime 3, Galaxy, and Brawl, all the rest i get through renting.

Five bucks for a week sure as hell beats 50 bucks up front and whatever piddly amount Gamestop will give you.

Even if i had a system like the 360 or PS3 i'd find it hard to justify actually buying any new game.

Given that most current-gen games have a fairly short single player, multiplayer modes that are so similar to each other you could probably just pick one game and stick with it, run you $50-$60 (american) up front, and likely have the gamestop trade-in value of a large cheese pizza, it just doesn't make any sense to BUY new games.

It basically boils down to: do i want to buy this for $45 for a few weeks and get ripped off by gamestop, or rent for $5-$15 until i'm inevitably sick of it and just return it.

I stopped selling games for any console except current gen consoles because I would rather get a big game collection, although because I keep so many old games I now have more SNES games than my XBOX 360, Wii and DS combined.

Yer I agree, I'd rather rent games, but it's so far away from the neares blockbuster I really can't be bothered. So I do the whole online rental which is really really good. :3

Lol i've got 103 games, according to xbox.com :/ and thats on the 360. half of which i played for like 2 mins and now i've started going for gamerscore im having to go back to them and playing each individually. Yay :/

I never trade games in, because after I take em back i just wanna play em again and end up going out and buying them for 3-4x the selling price, losing out on alot of cash, so I just buy and reserve for future use. Like im doing at the moment lol

I don't trade in games. I don't like the idea of loosing money on something I may pick up again (and usually do). In fact, a lot of the time I can't, I like to buy games second hand off eBay, far cheaper than in the shops. And I only get the mint condition ones. So it's all good in the end.

I was going to trade in Crackdown once, but they only offered me £6.... So that's why I have about 20 PS2 games and 15 360 games in my room at the moment. There's also PC games sprawled across the house in draws and what not.

And call me crazy, but this is also the reason I don't like Steam or buying song's on the internet... Everything you buy doesn't even have a possible re-sale value...
