hehe I have this problem too... 'AAARGGH GOD I HATE THIS FUCKING GAME' [controller thrown on floor... TV switched off]

Very impatient when it comes to failing. Apart from online multiplayer where I will suck it up and try to get better.

I get especially frustrated with repeated fails in platforming games (Tomb Raider anniversary.. YUK)

Customization.

If it has it I will play it. I may not buy it, but I will play it.

Collectibles. Oh god collectibles. I have OCD when it comes to games, so much that I play really bad games just to finish them. (Such as the Half Blood Prince, ugh.)

Achievements are the worst with me, I just can't help myself. I'm an achievement whore (Who isn't though?).

The Pokemon games pull on my OCD terribly, because when I play them, I get Every. Single. One.

In a dungeon and come to a fork in the road? I have to go down each path just a little bit, so that I know what's down both of them, and which is the way I have to go, so that I can go the other way and get whatever is in that path before resuming down the main path.

Needless to say, it takes me AGES to finish games.

Completely random; basically if it catches my eye I'll probably get it eventually...

outside of the console isles, I have a horribly debilitating need upon occasion for "free" MMOs that I eventually end up quitting because they're generally boring or sinking more money than I'd like to speak about into >.<

Combos. I cannot for the life of me memorize or correctly perform combos in fighting games.

I agree with everyone that mentioned Pokemon. I have a compulsion to buy all the Pokemon games, even though they're all basically the same; I wish I was sensible and could limit myself to buying one game from each generation, but no. Somehow I end up with every game of each gen, despite the fact that they're very much the same, save for some differences in which Pokemon are exclusive to each. Still, at least they're good games which can be pretty addictive, even if they are repetitive in places.

Also, the Sims. I hate EA for the most part. I don't even play the games. (I used to years ago when I was younger, but I'm out of that phase now.) Still, I bought the Sims 3, just because I felt that it was necessary to own it. I played it for about an hour and then forgot all about it. This is why I will never be good with money.

In depth character creation. I can spend an hour sometimes more doing facial textures..hair styles..costumes etc etc etc. And on many occasions have even been know to flat out dump a game and restart if it doesn't look how i wanted it too rendered in game. Even if I'm a few levels in already.
wow, you pretty much said what I would, I love to customise as much as possible.

Custom Soundtracks.
I saw Driver: Parallel Lines yesterday for £2. Wasn't going to bother but seeing those two magic words sealed the deal.

Am I right in thinking the 360 does is it regardless of the game?

My greatest gameing weakness would be resisting the urge to play games when I'm doing homework

Similar sort of thing with the Harry Potter one in the OP - I often can't resist a licensed game just because I want to play as that character (even if they do things in the game that totally oppose what the character would actually do).

The most recent culprit of that and the last licensed game I bought was QoS - I knew, KNEW, it would be shit. And it was.

Things in the film they could of really worked with, focus more on stealth and some mano-a-mano (God I love that phrase) brawls instead of mass gun fights with machine guns in a hotel halfway through a f*cking poker game.

Arkham Asylum was perfect because it looked at the f*cking character. The character is your main selling point - you should be bollocks deep in info on them: how they behave, what underwear they wear, how often they shave their balls (on reflection, perhaps not) - then you build the game around the character, don't build the character around the game and then use some pretty shitty tech to sort of sculpt their face - especially when you've had entire Dev Diaries on 'capturing' the look and feel of the characters *cough* QoS *cough* .
