Your gaming weakness...

I was doing some random shopping with my girlfriend today when I noticed the new Harry Potter game was out.

At first I thought to myself, "I bet it will be the same old HP game - linear gameplay with clunky and unresponsive controls. I don't need to buy it"

So we moved on from the store and continued our shopping...

1 hour later, with Harry Potter fever reaching its pitch in my head, I rushed back to the store and purchased the game.

I KNEW it was going to be EXACTLY the same as all the other ones I have sitting on my shelf... Just as I knew it when I bought the last HP game. I get home and start playing, only to find that, if anything, it's actually worse. It seems I will never learn.



To the topic at hand, it made me wonder if I could be the only one with such a weakness. I reasoned I probably am the only one for HP games, but what about others?

I'd have to say that I'm a sucker for attractive character designs. I'm totally shallow when it comes to the overall look of a game. If I'm forced to choose between style and substance, style always wins out.

The Need for Speed franchise. The games progressively get worse, but I always seem to buy them. With the new games that are coming out I know that it'll be the same old dribble. They'll just add more cars, and it'll have a slightly different story, but I'll still end up buying/playing them.

In depth character creation. I can spend an hour sometimes more doing facial textures..hair styles..costumes etc etc etc. And on many occasions have even been know to flat out dump a game and restart if it doesn't look how i wanted it too rendered in game. Even if I'm a few levels in already.

The sims series. For some reason, I always know that its boring, tedious and I will get tired of it within a few minutes, but I can never resist buying it.

Pokemon games. They are the same every time but I must buy.

A low threshold for annoyance if I die once I pretty much go "ARGH!" eject the game and play a new one >.>

Yeh cheap games are so tempting, but finding a good one is like finding a needle in a haystack, unless you do a bit of reasearch beforehand.

Mario Kart. Every time they release a new Mario Kart, I buy it. Half of the tracks are always from previous games! I even bought a Wii so that I could play Mario Kart Wii.

Thirded. I also have an obsession with old games. If I see an old game that's hard to get I have to buy it. It's how I ended up with the Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition for the Gamecube, since this was before the virtual console put all those old Zelda games on the Wii.

ANY cheap game, Endwar was £10 so I bought it. Dark Sector war £5 so I bought it, Viking Battle for Asguard was £10 so I bought it. There are so many more.

The assassin's creed series and the dbz fighting games . Mainly the budokai series and tenkaichi series. I must have my precious! They will come to my house and kill me if i don't buy them.

But It'd been so lond since I played the old ones I probably got the new ones for nostalgia.

Scary/creepy intense games. I just can't seem to play through like I can with any other game. Like right now I'm trying to play through Bioshock, but the creepiness of the game keeps me from playing it for more than 20 minutes at a time. Unless I'm with friends, then I get peer pressured into playing.

Dark humour and/or intelligent humour, I love it.
